green cheek conures personality

ok kiwi will hide in my hair , nibble on my fingers, will get under my hand like a dog wanting to be pet for me to rub her head, kiwi will step up to come out of the cage but will not any other time. at times kiwi will have fits and bite hard. she or he will not lay on her/his back in my hand but will when she/he plays in the cage.sometimes i am not sure if kiwi trusts me or not kiwi is my first conure and so far i must say the most different do all conures act this way or is it just kiwi

She sounds like she does trust you. If you want to get her to step up. Use a clicker. You can do target training with her you might want to read this
always reward her if she steps up. Good luck

I also have a green cheek... mine is a pineapple GCC, the breeder I got her from told me that normal greens are the nippiest and the mutaions are mellower. Mine is very mellow and almost NEVER bites anymore... she is around 1 1/2 yrs old. I have had her since 3 months. She will step up anywhere to come to us, loves everyone and finds strangers facinating... loves to go to strangers and be fussed over. Likes men more than women ( unless it is a strange will lay on her back in my hand most times but has to hold on with her feet. She loves to hang out on my shoulder and stayed there yesterday while I vacumned the house. Poops on command if she needs to go , but will let a bomb go on my shoulder if i do not pay Mine really is an alround great bird... good for a beginner or someone who just loves cuddly birds.

Dexter my turquoise yellow sided green cheek has actually got a very nervous temperament. She was hand raised from 14 days old, same as the rest of them and they were all well cared for. I got her when she was weaned and when we first got her she was a little skittish. She flaps and flails a lot when you ask her to step up and she will pretty much throw herself at your hand to get on you. She poofs up when she's in a bad mood and lunges at me through the bars usually. She can be loud and scream a fit when she's not getting loads of attention from me or her cage mate. She plays a lot but definitely prefers to chew everything though! She still is skittish even though she's trained. She flutters whenever you're near. Sea never been mistreated and certainly not neglected. But she isn't a people person!

Pickles my green cheek hybrid is loud, boisterous and mellow. He steps up very well and he let's you touch him. He was parent raised in an aviary with his sibling. He plays hard, chews everything and rolls around on his back in his cage when he gets rough. He bounces up to the bars when you come past and is very confident compared to Dexter

Neither of them like scritches or hands on touching. They'll sit all over you but other than that, touching is a no go!
