Just saw Rio (movie)

Hi, just bought Rio on dvd the other day and watched it with my sister. For those of you who don't know, it's about a male spix's macaw called Blu (Jesse Eissenberg)from Small Town Minnesota who lives with a woman called Linda. He can't fly. One day, An eccentric ornithologist called Tulio Monteiro who tells him he is the last male of his kind. They have to travel to Rio for Blu to meet the last remaining female, Jewel, voiced by Anne Hathaway. spoilers ahead! If you haven't seen the movie and don't want me to ruin it for you don't read anymore. But if you don't mind, go ahead.
They get captured by smugglers, where they are put in a cage and chained together. They manage to escape to the jungle by opening the door and running away from the smugglers. They sleep at the top of a gazebo. Linda and Tulio ask around if anybody has seen their birds, and an impoverished orphan boy called Fernando tells them where they are and takes them there on a motorbike. Meanwhile the smugglers' crafty cockatoo, Nigel orders some thieving marmosets to find the blue macaws or threatened them with flying lessons. Blu and Jewel meet the toco toucan Rafael and he says he'll take them to a bulldog called Luiz to get their chain off, but he just wants to sneak off to carnival. He then takes them to a mountain and tries to teach Blu how to fly but he falls down. They fall down to a beach and then take a truck to Luiz. But he wasn't there so two wisecracking city birds called Pedro and Nico take them to a party, and blu and Jewel dance but the party is interrupted by the moneys. They all have a war and the birds win. They are taken to Luiz who gets the chain off and Blu is jealous of Jewel flying so they have an argument and Jewel flies away. Just then Nigel takes her to carnival for the smugglers. Pedro and Nico see and tell Blu and Rafael so they go to carnival.
Meanwhile Linda and Tulio dressed in bird outfits are searching for Blu but Linda is forced onto a float and has to perform in front of loads of people and Blu recognises her but goes to rescue Jewel. Nigel shoves him into a cage, as well as Rafael, Nico and Pedro. They are put on a plane, where Blu escapes his own cage and helps everyone else out, then he opens the plane and the rest fly out. Jewel encourages Blu to fly but he is too afraid. Just then Nigel comes and pins Blu down, and Jewel tries to stop him but he pushes her off and a cage lands on her wing, injuring it. But then Blu grabs the fire extinguisher and hooks it on Nigel's leg, causing him to fly away and he is sent into the planes' propeller. Just then the plane is about to crash into the ocean and Jewel falls down. Blu jumps too and catches Jewel. Jewel kisses Blu and then he flies. They fly down to Linda, Tulio and Fernando. And they both fly off. At the end they have 3 kids and they all fly free with Tulio and Linda in a microlite.
what I thought of the movie I thought it was pretty good and an accurate representation of the real problem with the spix's macaws. Some things were that they seemed to have 2 feet at the front, but only one at the back. The style was to my taste. All in all I would recommend this film to anyone who loves birds.

Movie is good but please No hot chocolate! Last thing you want is one of your kids or friends trying to give the birds some.

I'm watching it right now! Jack mentioned it on our page yeah he eats cookies with his hot chocolate too. And his cage is very small, round and only has a bell in it. Eek! Overall though I love it!

yeah, my sister thought that you could give parrots chocolate chip cookies, I had to explain to her that chocolate was poisonous to birds or she'd have tried to feed my budgie chocolate But it is a great film

It was even more amazing on a 3D HD television! If you can try to watch that version, you'll be astonished.
