still cant decide between a GCC or a Senegal

Would like to know opinions from people who has BOTH birds. Which do you have a my personable connection with? Who likes to interact with you more?

I am well aware that each bird will be different within species but would just like personal experiences from people who have both birds.

nanay used to have both but she doesn't come here anymore. I know tippa has two green cheeks and a maroon bellied conure AND a Senegal I'm unsure about anybody else, but I'm positive he can give you some advice. I think though that green cheeks are very affectionate and love to be around you too

Hey, did someone mention my name? lol .

Yes I have both green cheeks and senegal. In my circumstances the senegal is more suitable bird for myself. Duke my senegal is very versatile, he doesn't mind being left on his own in another room to do his things, play by himself without him screaming for my attention like my conures. On the other hand when Duke is in the same room as me he will always fly over for a cuddle and some head scritches so he does like to interact with me too(like I have said, he is versatile). I have other birds too so it's important in my situation that the bird can be independent too as well as cuddly and this is the reason senegal is suitable for me.

Now a little bit about my green cheeks. When I am home the green cheeks are very clingy to me and want my attention all the time, they will scream out loud to get attention if they're left in another room; I'm finding it very difficult because I have other birds too that I have to share my time with. My green cheeks are very hyperactive, they never stay still, maybe it's because they're in a flock. I have seen other people's green cheeks that are very mellow so not all green cheeks are hyperactive like mine. When i'm in the same room as the conures I can't keep up with them because they're so hyper, I can't get to relax when they're around. If you like a clingy bird that demands your full attention all the time then a green cheek is right for you.

I have never been bit by my senegal, but have been bitten many times by my maroon bellied conure(maroon belly is similar to a green cheek). My green cheeks can be a bit nippy if they think i'm stealing their food and will attack.

Something else I really like about senegal Duke is he doesn't mind being left in the cage- this is very important when you have multiple birds.

This is all I can think of for now so ask away if you need more info.

My senegal is a bit different then tippa's. She is very clingy and has nipped on occasion, when I don't do what she wants when she wants it, she has a temper, lol. I wouldn't say she's noisy, but whenever I leave the room she calls me back. She is very calm though and will just sit on me while I work on my computer or jewelry.

Green cheeks on the other hand have to be the center of attention and you won't be able to do anything else when they are out and they can be very nippy.

I read that Pionus parrots are quiet and gentle so if you're concerned about aggressive and noisy parrots then you should do some research on Pionus parrots, they could be a better choice, ya never know

My green cheek is different...lol he/she is VERY laid back... was only nippy up till 6-7 months old or so and is very quiet... sitting on my shoulder at the moment gently nibbling my ear and pushing her beak behind my ear.. will go to anyone... loves strangers...a real dream bird!

My Maxx is also very quiet, he can make noise a couple times a day, but it never lasts long and is never very loud. He loves to be on my shoulder and close to me. But, he is independent and will play for hours in his inside and outside cage. Having tons of toys is an absolute must, and the more foraging toys the better. Just knowing I am within his sight and he is happy. I take him to work and he will go to anyones finger, and gives them the tilted head look, which they all fall in love with. He is defiantly my dream bird,

thanks for all the responses. I got 1 question for everyone. Do you think that having 1 bird correlates to him being more calmer and less aggressive since he doesn't have to fight for your attention more? For those who have a quieter calmer bird, is he your only bird? Likewise those having a more aggressive less calm bird, do you have other birds?

I only have the 1 bird, and for me it works out fine.
