When I first submitted my getting to know me thread I told you all that I have 2 cockatiels and was planning on getting a GCC. I've posted some little snip-its about Oscar and some questions I had regarding GCCs, but I just wanted to officially announce him and tell everyone how he's doing.
Oscar is a yellow sided green cheek conure, he hatched in late march, which made him the oldest GCC they had. I got him from a bird supply store here in Michigan where I also got my 2 tiels from as well. They are very nice there, and have very good prices. They get their birds directly from a breeder to. The normal GCC mutation costs about $250 at their store, which to my knowledge now, is a good price. I really liked the normal mutation, so I had absolutely no problem taking one of those little guys home! All the GCCs they were selling had been about 2 months old, except Oscar. Since he was older he was only being sold for $250 unlike the other YSGCCs which were being sold for $300.
I only met with Oscar once and I instantly fell in love.
He is a VERY sweet bird. Although the green cheeks have a reputation of being nippy, he is an exception. Ive had him for 3-4 weeks now and he has only nipped at me once. He is such a beautiful bird, another thing that I loved about him. Now he is still timid, and is still getting use to me and his toys, but I am so happy I decided to get him. Best decision ever.
