feather loss around the eyes

hiiii! havent posted here for aaaages!
today i noticed that my budgie was loosing feathers around one eye, theres a small red circle of bald skin around it.
what could this be?

Molting? My bug has some bareness above his cere. When I looked closely, I can see tiny feathers coming in. Look closely and use use a hand lens!

Nice to see you back, Ella!! How have the birds been doing? Still buddies? I would suspect molting too, but if the redness continues or gets worse, you may want to have it checked out

Yeah, it might be molting. If it doesn't get better, definitely take your budgie to a vet. It's obviously not plucking.

To me it sounds like it could be psittacosis or perhaps scaly face mites. If it doesn't clear up real soon then I suggest going to a vet just to be on the safe side. You wouldn't want anything bad to happen to them!
