Pseudonomas treatment

Hello all, the main reason I've joined this forum is my gray, Dixie was diagnosed with pseudonomas and proteus both in her sinuses due to her inhailing seed hulls before I got her. The vet says there is little chance it will affect my other birds as long as she is kept separate from them. He also said it is chronic and there will be a long haul of antibiotics. She was on oral baytril for a month and a nasil batril mix for two weeks and has gotten better. Now it's a month later and she is still producing a lot of green nasal discharge.

I was wondering if there was a homeopathic treatment that I can use to help speed things on or even kill the bacteria in her nostrils. My vet is not supportive of alternative avian medicine, however I am afraid if I keep her on antibiotics she will be resistant and weakened if she gets something else. None of my other birds have tested positive for either bacteria, I'd still like to kill the bacteria before they do find another host.

im not sure what could cure her illness but I would try to give her herbs and fruits and veggies that build up the immune system, i know cinnamon is an anti bacterial, and that cayenne helps build up the immune system as well as small amounts of garlic, flax seed, bee pollen, thyme, pepperment are are supposed to help with immune system and muscus membranes but youd have to look up the dosage. I also remember reading about booster juices for birds that heighten the immune system you could prolly look that up and find it on google. Also make sure your giving greens like dandelions and collard those vitamins are much needed when the immune system is comprimised, and of course greys have problems with calcium so make sure shes getting enough of that. Oh and if your giving tap water you might consider boiling it and then refrigerating it to make sure no more bacteria comes in.

Hope this helps a bit

Ohhh also when my degu got a respiratory infection i took her into the bathroom with me put the shower on as hot as it would go and let it get steamy, i stayed in there for 5 to 10 minutes with her and i did this twice a day for 2 weeks this will help her breathe easier

A more environmentally friendly way would be to take the cage bottom off and set her on a chair and put a pot on hot hot water underneath the chair and a blanket over the chair so the steam rises to her, i read that somewhere but i find the top one works best
