Beak Health Question

Abigail has this build up on her beak and it has gotten better since I've adopted her (her cage was nasty when I got her and it prob did no good for her rubbing up against her perches) but it I'm still worried about it. Do I need to get the vet involved on this? I've noticed in everyone's photos their beaks look all nice and smooth and clean but not like my baby. I've included a pic so you can all see.

As far as I can see the bird in general looks healthy.
Why don't you mail this picture to your Avian vet?

Humm...I don't see a build up but I do see different colors. I thought amazons had an all gray beak? Flaking can be normal. A lot of times beak issues are related to nutritional deficiencies. It would seem to make sense since you said it had gotten better since you got her and it doesn't sound like she came from the best situation before. If this is the case, I'd imagine that over time the old beak will grow out and be replaced by the new healthier looking beak.
