Unhappy what to do?

ok after the whole dally breaking her toe from munch chomping it ordeal i put a pillow case on top of munch's cage to keep tiel toes from being bitten.

today i let the lovebirds out (the 2 species--tiels and lovies--get different out of cage time) while the tiels stayed in their cages.
dally was climbing the side of her cage to get up onto a perch and munch ran down and bit her in toe! different toe same foot!

now it seems she is targetting dally for no reason as she chased dally from the outside of the tiels cage and im a little confused over what to do to stop munch... i mean i only have 2 large rooms in the house the livingroom/kitchen and bedroom. theres no where to lock up 4 cats that 2 dont get along at... so the livingroom the birds arent allowed to be in because of the cats

anyone have any suggestions. im tired of bitten toes and im sure dally is too

Casey,
I'm sorry to hear this. How is Dally's toe?
I have heard that toes are a target peach faced lovebirds can't seem to resist.
Do the cats bother the birds in their cages? If not, can the cats be in the same room with the birds who are inside their cages? If not, we'll brainstorm other ideas.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

cats dont bother them in the cages but we have no room in the livingroom for their cages because of the chinchilla cage and hedgie cage. and she cant have out of cage time out in the livingroom because of the cats. i lost one bird to one cat i will not lose another

dallys toe isnt broken this time but its cut pretty good. its just dally she targets too

i cant cover the cage munch goes under the covers
i cant cover the cage with plexi glass because munch goes for the whole cage and that wouldnt work because of the perches
someone on TC suggested chicken wire but she can get through the gaps for toes
someone also suggested no out of cage time for munch but thats not fair
cant clip her. she can still get to the cage. when i had clipped them i had taken off 8 feathers and they could still fly so thats no help....

dont have any other rooms for out of cage time. we have 3 rooms in our appartment--bedroom, joined livingroom and kitchen, and the bathroom. bathroom has too many dangers and kitty litter boxes and i cant put a playgym in there the room is too small... livingroom has cats in and i cant lock all 4 up in the bedroom as they might kill eachother at such close range lol jessie and destiny and destiny and gylfie dont get along the best daystar likes everyone.... so the birds stay in bedroom

tiels cage is too large to drag into the livingroom....

you see why im at a loss at what to do

You could cover it in a window screen and just where the perches hang out of the bars cut a hole just covering the Perch end.

I don't think she can get through that.

I don't know after that.

bad news/good news
dollarstore only carries window screen seasonally so it is gone now

so we got clear plastic drop screen. we will cut holes for the door and cover the tiels cage when the lovies are out with it.

Maybe Munch targeting Dally is because Munch is a girl too.?. Just a suggestion, I've been gone all weekend so I need to catch up!

well we tried the idea and it failed. i resorted to a squirt bottle each time they climb down the sides. top of cage they can stay but sides are a no no as they terrorize the tiels.

how it failed: they flew and landed on the only gap in the plastic...

the water bottle is working. for munch at least. shes learning fast. mango isnt making the connection as fast.

theyve also started mating out of cage so they get a squirt then too to stop which works..
