New Parakeet

I just got a new parakeet from a local pet/hardware store and he is having the normal symptoms of moving to a new home. He just dropped this poop that is about six times the size of his normal poops. I was wondering if this is a sign of illness, but itís only his second day at my house soooo I didnít know if maybe he was nervous and holding it in for a while because he wasnít pooping as often as I expected. Please let me know if I should be worried

What time did he drop it? If it was when he first woke up or still early morning then it could have been his morning poop which is 9/10 times bigger than a usual poop haha!

I'm with catalinadee on this, its possible it was his first of the day morning poop which can be large. Also he's probably adjusting to new seeds and being a little stressed out in his new home so expect some unusual poops for a couple of days.

If you see the bird is flicking its tail or bobbing it in a rocking motion then you have the signs of a sick bird, if the bird is puffed up and sleeping a lot then you have a sick bird. I hope the new addition is just getting use to his new surroundings play him some music so he's surrounded by sounds and can get use to your home. Let us know how it goes and please share some pics of the new budgie with us!

It was in the morning. I was expecting him to be quiet and scared but I didn't expect that big of a poop! Other than the poop he had been acting fine and is getting more comfortable. Thank you for all your advice!

I messed around with the lighting on your pic of the cute Alfred and made his beautiful colors show up. He is a standard Australian budgie and one of my favorite colored birds. Congrats!

Congrats to your beautiful little Alfred, Tori.
I hope he won't scare you again with his poop.
It could have been a linnie poop.

I was gong to say the same thing. Linnie poop is huge for just a tiny bird. Also all m birds have big poops in the morning.
