Dyed Leather?

Im looking into buying some leather and acrylic shapes so i can get into making better toys for my conure.

i found some scrap leather on ebay.. its from a craft store and they sell the scraps for a really cheap price.. but only problem, its dyed.

but it says it is
100% Natural pigment color

soo,, is this vegtable based or chemical?

im going to keep looking.. but help would be great thank you!!

I am not sure... I do know to be bird safe leather has to be vegetable tanned and dyed with vegetable dyes.. maybe you can email the seller and ask how the leather is tanned and dyed. Personally I would not use it unless I knew for sure... ( as you are doing by asking and researching )

Call me paranoid =)
But if I'm not sure, then I just won't buy it.
I did attach the above link because this is where I purchase my leather strips and pieces from. They seem to be reasonably priced and also have a section on leather pieces that already have the holes punched into them for creating your own toys!
Before I purchased from them, I actually called them and asked a TON of questions. They were very patient with me and explained their process so I could be assured their product is bird safe.
Hope this helps.

Yep bird nerds is a great place for safe toy making supplies! I just ordered about 10 feet of leather and 50$ worth of toy making supplies. I keep thinking it is cheaper than buying ready made toys but really how many thousands of toys does one bird need!
