Mite spray

I rehomed an older tiel months ago and along with cage and toys etc the previous owner sent spray called pestex... It is made for parrots/"domestic" birds and directions say to spray cage and toys and even on the bird, ive never used it of course, just curious, previous lady claimed she used it, it smells really strong like ant killer, warnings say not to inhale fumes or ingest etc, and may b harmful to himans and "domestic pets".... Yet it says can b used on the birds, just wonddering if anyone has used this stuf, knows about it, hates it, anything?? Thanks

Please don't use it, google a safer way to clean things and get rid of mites. I have read alot about how it can really make a bird sick. There has got to be a better product out there. I would really be afraid of that and would throw it right in the trash. Good luck.

do NOT use store bought sprays...

after doing some looking into it, thats how i lost all 6 baby starlings i was raising this summer. they died of poisoning even though the spray was meant for birds. horrible way to die.

I would never dream of using something that smells that strong even in the same room as my birds let alone ON THEM... I was just curious if anyone knew if it was as bad as I thought it was... I have used the mite "cans" that hang under the cage in the past.... Just glad nothing happened to my.tiel at her former home, she is pretty old, dont know how she lived through years of being sprayed with that stuff

I've never had anything bad happen from using the stuff, I haven't used that one though. I don't use any store bought stuff now. Last bird who had mites I took to the vet and had them put a drop of something, the mites went straight away!
