im so mad.

my parents wont get rid of the teflon pans in my house.

i have letterally cried to them about getting rid of them and they wont,
my dad said nothing would happen unless it was heated above 500 degrees.

but they dont get it that i dont care what temperature it is at, i want it gone

like right now, they are cooking with pans,

i have the sliding patio door open to hopefully clear it,

but every time they cook. im so scared.

I'm certain they believe they are going to keep Ice safe, and yet, I know it is very scarey for you. I agree that probably the only way to make a change would be if you could buy them some really neat replacements that they would rather use, but I suspect that is out of your budget.

Teflon is actually unsafe for people. It can leach into the food. Maybe you could do a bunch of research on that and persuade them from that angle instead.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

i bought our stainless steel set at walmart, for $60. Betty Crocker and its awesome!! so if you can afford it, its the cheapest you can get i think.

I may be wrong and i totally understand your consern but i was doing some reading and as long as you don't overheat the pan with nothing in it it should be ok. I know it isn't ideal but maybe that will help you cope until you get them to change their mind.

that is inaccurate. the pans can emit fumes any time, not trying to scare you.

Is your bird cage in the kitchen? I think teflon has to get quite hot in order to create fumes but it would probably be worthwhile to keep some distance. I bought a stainless steel set from XS Cargo for $20 for a set of 4 (seriously!) but I find the pan is terrible for frying eggs (they stick, even with butter) so I use a ceramic pan for that.

If you can't do anything about it then I think it would be a great idea to show them this forum!

Also, where is Ice housed?

Ice is housed up stairs in the bonus room.
It is up 2 flights fo stairz. The kitchen, when you walk down the stairs is just to the left of the stairs. Maybe i will take some pictures when i get hone fron school to give you guys a better visual
