What to do during severe weather

Im under a tornado watch and really worried because we may have a tornado near us and we dont have a basement. What should I do with the birds in case something happens? I'm not sure whats gonna happen but I dont want to take chances.

I have the cages covered with blankets and on the floor but I know im gonna need to move them out of the room because I have two windows.

Advice would be greatly appreciated as soon as possible because I dont know what's gonna happen or when.

Hi! Have the birds in a smaller sized cage, near a heat source such as a heater, away from any windows. Covering them with a blanket was a great idea to keep them safe and also to stop them from panicking. If the watch will last simply overnight I would have them in a travel cage. I am not sure if you have many birds, but if you do and there is no way you can transport all of them quickly in their travel cages, have the travel cages pre-loaded in your car. When you have to REALLY run, your pillow case will do as a quick travel carrier for your birds. Have an escape kit ready with first aid equipment, water bottles, pellets, containers for the food and water, pillow cases and elastic bands. Make sure the pillow cases are cotton so your birds can breathe through them. Hope this helps and good luck!
