Question 2 Questions

#1 I noticed my mothers budgie, Clyde, is doing this weird yawn like thing. He keeps doing it over and over again. It looks like a yawn but he opens his beak a lot more, almost like he is sucking air in. I don't know much about budgies so I just wanted to make sure he is okay. She would be devastated is something happened to him while she was gone..

#2 I'm trying to make forging toys for my tiel and I have some pretty paper to do it with. I want to make sure it's safe, but the only thing it says on the pack is "Acid and Lignin Free". Can I use this paper?

most likely, for the budgie he is adjusting his crop or may have gotten some down in his throat, its usually nothing to worry about. my tiels do this and so do my lovebirds. its like a super yawn by how it looks lol but if it is excessive or he seems unwell i would have a vet see him to be sure. if something is irritating his crop it could be yeast or another crop infection.

the second, i am not 100% sure, but if it is not glossy paper it is generally safe. most dyes in the states and canada are soy based

Kind of, it's spaced apart about the same time as that tiel but Clyde doesn't strain that hard. It's just the yawn part.

then it is likely the same thing so no worries most likely but if he does it for a considerable amount of time straight (half hour or more) you may want to see someone

Thank you He stopped after about 10 minutes so I guess he had something stuck. I've had my other budgie since I was about 8 and I've never seen her do that. I guess that's why I was kind of freaked out
