I think it is time

As some of you already know I have a special little fella fighting a kidney tumour . I think he has had enough. He seems to of lost his zest for life. For the last week all he does is sit and sleep all puffed up. His breast bone is like a razor and he hardly eats. He has given it a great fight and has been an awesome little budgie boy. He has given us a beautiful clutch of babies who are now a little over 1 year old. But now he is tired and deserves peace and freedom from suffering.... And I do think he has started to suffer. Tomorrow I will call the vet and take him in at the soonest appointment I can get and give him the gift of peace and freedom from this disease that has eaten him up from the inside out... And he will be dearly missed....

Thank you Sarah... He is my hubby's bird and he has been sorta in denial... Till he really took a hard look at him tonight... And saw what I do... I feel so bad for him and his little birdie.

I'm so sorry to hear this, ParrotletsRock, but you have done your very best for him, and now it's time to give him one last gift - peace. You expressed yourself very well in your post, we know how hard this is for you. We're all crying right along with you.....

Fly free little one.

Oh, gosh, this brings tears to my eyes. I am so very sorry. It does sound as if this is the best thing for him. Give him a kiss for me?

I'm sorry you have to go through this. But it takes a great person to do the right thing, and not just keep him around even if he is suffering. Fly free little guy.

Thank you so much Casey....
It is over... It was so peaceful... A real easy exit for my little one... I love my vet... He is the most compassionate person... He gave him an injection of meds to put him in a deep sleep , he was so gentle Beau didn't even flinch, and then let me hold him while he left for a few minutes to let it work... After Beau was deeply asleep he came back and gently euthanized him... It was so easy and painless for us both... I stayed with him till it was over... I didn't want him to be left alone and afraid of strangers in his last few minutes... RIP Beau... Momma loves you forever.....

You are a wonderful birdy momma, you did such a wonderful thing for Beau, staying with him and comforting him while he passed. I'm positive this made him feel SO much less afraid. He's at peace now, no more pain or suffering.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. You are a wonderful example of how to be a kind, loving and caring bird guardian.

Our thoughts are with you during this sad time.

Thank you so much Joanne... He was very at ease... He never struggled or seemed scared or stressed... The last thing I did before I left was stroke his little cheek... I said goodbye and told him I would see him in another life... I know he is in a better place now.
