Question Ant Problem

So I have an issue... The ants in California are in full force again. I woke up this morning and found a bunch of ants munchin away at a dried papaya treat behind Belle's cage. I straighten up her cage every day (vaccuum around it and replace food/water) and do a deep clean once or twice a week depending on how messy she is. Last year I just put out a poision and they went away but I'm scared to do that with Belle being in the room. So any bird safe ways to get rid of ants? I don't really have the option of moving her to a different room either.. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't have a clue. Must be tough! Hope somebody can help you with this. It's not like just one or two ants either, huh

I had this same issue when KC my severe was outside in the solarium. Either ignore them, or put ant syrup out. I know its not good for the birds, but at the same time, neither is biting ants. When I did it, I put the bait in the far corners, someplace a bird would have to look really hard to find it. Also, maybe play with the bird out of that room until you are sure the ants are gone.

I guess I'll try to put some any syrup out in places she never goes and hope for the best! I wish there was some type of natural thing I could do. I read cornmeal is an option because the ants will eat it but they can't digest it, so they die. I just don't want cornmeal all over haha.

the syrup worked wonders for me, they were little sugar ants I was having problems with. Just put a drop in the corners of the room, or a spot you see them coming from.

I just put some on the outside of the window to see if that works (they are definitely coming in the window). Maybe that will work, if not I'll put some inside.

That should be good. The syrup I had worked really well, in a few days no more ants in KC's bowl

I also have used liquid ant bait and it works awesome... Just make sure if you use it that you do not kill ants that you see... You need them to carry the bait back to the colony and share it... Then it kills the whole colony.

What I did was put it at the base of the cage for KC, because they were coming up the sides. took a few days but wham! got the little guys! No more ants in KC;s fruit bowl
