Im thinking this thread could be a big help to people new and experienced with birds, helping them compare the weights of the same species of bird with different owners. I know I'm always weighing Ice, and it gives piece of mind knowing someone else's bird weighs close to what your bird does!

I'll start :)

Ice- Green cheek conure
Weight-66 grams

Your turn :)

I don't remember everybodies weights but I can start off with Dexter (green cheek) and Pickles (maroon belly x green cheek)

Dex - 62g
Pickles - 51g

That's their normal weights, usually pretty constant

Pickles is extremely small, he's not underweight. I'm sure it's his maroon belly in him

I don't catch my Tiels without reason, so not all weights are upto date.
but it is always good to have basic idea of weights, just in case.
In saying that I see my notes have not been updated for Zinny and Angel. The vet will have their weights from their vet check. But they have not been added to my data file.

Edit: 3/09/2012 Caught Zinny and Angel and have added their weights
Henry 105g
Max 101g
Tinkerbell 89g
Snowy 89g
Zinny 108g
Angel 115g

Juli the way I do it is I have a kitchen scale that weights in ounces or grams... The smaller the increment the better, also tare function is a must. I have a couple of birds that will stand on a folded towel on the scale so I just tare out the weight of the towel ( this resets the scale to 0 with the weight of the towel on it so when you place a bird on it all you see is the weight of the bird ) and set my bird on... For the budgies who will not sit on the scale I use a small travel cage which I again tare to 0 and then put a bird in the cage to get their weight. Some people use a small plastic container with a top on it instead of a cage.. You can also buy bird scale's that have a perch on them , but the ones I have seen are kinda pricy .
