Exhaustion???

Hi all. My green cheek went on a little adventure a couple of days ago. Luckily we got him back after being out in the wild over night. Since returning home he is really sleepy. He is eating fine and other then a bit of a sore wing seems fine. Could the sleepiness just be exhaustion or should I be concerned? I am planning to visit a vet if he doesn't pick up in a couple of days or if he goes off his food any way. Has anyone else been in a similar situation at all?

Having only lost one bird which was recently, and she hasn't come back I cannot say what it could be. If she is having a problem with her wing and appears sleepy I'd of gone to the vet straight away. Birds can pick anything up while they're out there. She may need blood work done too. I hope everything turns out okay though

Oh, and welcome to the forum

definitely go to the vet, something could be wrong. Our mealy amazon started sleeping more and after about a day he died! So from my experience I wouldn't wait any longer. Hope he's okay!

Thanks. I talked to the vet and she said while he is still eating not to stress him out more by taking him in there and just to let him rest and give him lots of cuddles. I couldn't take him to the vet straight away as it is Christmas and none were open. The vet thinks he has just over done it and is sore like we get when we over do things. And that he may also be a bit shaken up by the ordeal. But I have decided if he isn't any better tomorrow I will most def take him in. He does seem a bit perkier today.

I took coda to the vet. Within 15 mins of getting home he died in my arms. I have never in my life been so heart broken.

I am so sorry I think he must have picked something up. Was he your only bird?

The vet said it looked like something may have attacked him and the shock of it all was to much. I have a budgie also. The girl I got coda from is a close friend that breeds conures. She has one ready for adoption now but it is too soon. She has eggs in the nest so she has said I can have one of those in a few months. Yes I am devastated and the worst part is yet to come...... Telling my 11yo daughter when she gets back from her dads Sunday. Thanx for the well wishes. I never thought I could get so attached to a bird. I used to be scared if them.
