How often do your weigh your birds?

I was wondering how many of you have birdie scales and how often to you moniter there weight? Personally, I weigh my too once a weak. On Friday morning right after the A.M. bomb......since he's owned me, he has gained around 7 g's. I can swear that he feels heavier on my wrist then he did before he gained the weight. I check his poop DAILY.. and am very diligent about his diet. I got my scale from OldWillKnott & it's fabulous, it even has a hold feature for you to be able to write down the weight.

It really is imperative that we weigh them as all of you already know. Plus, the peace of mind is priceless..Oh, & since I have been using Nekton S, his feather quality has really improved...

I don't weight my budgies, they get 6 monthly check ups at the vet (Like the dentist) and they're weighed then.
I had to weigh Souffle for a couple of weeks after her accident to make sure her weight didn't drop so I knew if she was feeling well enough to eat.
I don't have bird scales either I use the food scales with the bowls ;D hahaha!

...I tried that with Elvis, but he kept hoping off into the sunset... the perch on the birdie scale does work though, he will sit still till I get a reading then hit the hold button....cause there he goes again...

Kermit gets weighed once a week with a food scale, she will sit still for a few seconds, long enough for a reading, then she is off to get into trouble.

Mine get weighed daily too. Budgies included. Sparkle the GCC just sits still on a scale on command, and budgies go into a tupperware container and stay somewhat still on command.

And yes, the fatso budgie weighs as much as a GCC. She's been this way all her life. Vet says she's just "big boned" lol.

I weigh Bob weekly in his travel box.
He wouldn't keep still otherwise.

I do not catch my birds just to weigh them, unless I feel there is a problem.
I have to use a net to take them out of the air as they are free flyers. And pandemonium breaks out as soon as they see the net.
They settle down quickly after, in fact just a few hours later you would not know.
They are little drama queens.
Anyway in saying that I do keep an eye on weights,as I do feel it is one very important thing in bird keeping.
I.E. When there are babies around they will be weighed all the time. New birds coming in get regular checks.

A tribute to my lost ones. RIP.

I do weekly or bi weekly with the hand tame depending on if I have any existing concerns. Majority of my birds aren't tame enough to catch unless there is a major concern

Some of the gang:

Hobby Breeding: lineolated parakeets

My 7 teils get daily weighings ( sometimes both am & pm) and are recorded on charts that I designed and print. They are held in a 3 ring binder. The weights get periodically added to an excel spreadsheet. I probably need to add a notes section for each bird on the chart.

The birds are usually very cooperative about stepping up on the scale, and this is just part of their out of cage playtime. I thing that they sometimes play games with me by just getting to the scale , then flying off and making me go get them again.

Good idea! making a playtime theme....never thought of that..those tiels are soooo funny. I adore tiels. Fortunately, I dont have to use a spreadsheet because I only have one baby. But I do write it down per weigh in.
