Cozette and Mina meet their cousin

My sister adopted a budgie from craigslist. The lady who couldn't keep him due to no job. He's about 10 months we think. She named him Louie. After seeing him, I finally understand why people say linnies are not much bigger than budgies. He is huge! Way bigger than Cozette and much closer to Mina in size. Mina ways 45 grams, Louie 39.4 grams, and Cozette 26 or 27 grams on a bloated day, lol. Oliver (plet) weighs 29-30 grams.

Him and Cozette get along, she gets along with everyone. Mina wasn't too sure, but by the end, the seemed fine with each other.

Kinda does but in the face, not really. Made me wonder if he is a hybrid or something.

Beautiful pictures! I love the 3rd one where Cozette is reassuring Mina. You've got a very handsome budgie there. I agree that he looks a bit like an English budgie. Very sweet!

Louie is a cutie and does look as though his previous owner took care of him. Louie looks a little like my mom's budgie, Coco. I wonder if coco is a hybrid too. Even when Coco was young, she was already bigger than Miss Kauai. Her eyes also have more of the English budgie look than an American budgie. So, you got your sister hooked on birds too? LOL

My sister got him in early November and I think he has gained some weight since. Louie's eyes do look like an english's too...they actually pin! I think she is hooked lol! In August she also got a blue Pacific Parrotlet off craigslist. She calls him Frankie. Let's just say Frankie is an extreme plet personality, lol!

Louie is a beautiful budgie, and Mina was a good girl getting along with him so quickly. Most linnies would need more time.

What a gorgeous little birdy! Congratulations to your sister, and yourself He looks half English to me. I've slowly started to decrease the English in my budgies as I've been breeding them to get a bird that is sort of 1/4 English. That way they're still pretty small but they've got cute puffy heads. Full English tend to be very heavy, poor fliers and appear to have a lot more health issues

Really? I thought linnies were pretty mild tempered?

Beautiful bird I'm happy for you sister, congrats to her, she took a risk and turned out very well!!! Here I also see parakeets with unusual coloring, they are called exotics but don't cost anymore than the usual price. I've seen some real beauties that made me drool! But my other half said enough birds.

Budgies are so cool. There aren't any flaws really. They are pretty perfect.

Yes, they are, but they usually are afraid of everything new.
You will experience that when Mina becomes older.
As long as they are children it's easier for them.

Janosch and Paulchen were afraid of their new flight cage and their new sleeping cabin at first. They were so tired, but they would sit and watch it with spread tail feathers. It lasted many hours until they went to bed.

I wonder if she will change after she is older. Right now she is 5 mths but she is the most accepting of new things out of all three of my birds, then my budgie, last is my plet. He is scared of EVERYTHING. Takes him days or weeks to step foot on a new playgym, Mina went on it right off! Anyway she didn't seem scared of Louie, but maybe a little territorial? Unsure? She kinda spread her wings at him and trued to chase him away. God, I am scared of her puberty

Mina is going through a molt right now. She looks rough! Much worse than my other birds do when they molt....are linnies molts different? It seems like I can see more down on her, sort of peeking thru.

I think it really depends on your linnie's personality. One of my linnies acts more like a parrotlet than a linnie, I think. She is very curious and has to investigate everything. When she is scared, she scolds and bites. I still love her to pieces. She won't give me kisses, but she likes to cuddle on my neck.

You'll have to wait and see how Mina is after she goes through linnie puberty.
