"you can't see me!"

Gypsy thought if she stayed really still in her jolly ball I wouldn't find her. I admit, it did take a minute and I only found her after she clucked. yes, she clucks like a chicken! lol

haha I know, thats why I looked over her several times calling her before she finally clucked and then I found her. She is just hilarious! She sat so still I couldn't believe it and had to grab my phone to take pics of it before she moved!

Evidently she has decided that is her bed and was sleeping there again last night. I saw her there hid behind all the toys this morning. lol And no!!!! She is NOT a sweetie! She looks so sweet but mean as a snake. I have suffered so many bites from her (hand, fingers, arms and even my face) and when she bites, she draws blood. Shes tamed down some now and doesn't bite me near as often and is getting better but I think she is literally bi-polar or something. One minute shes sweet and tries to sing with me and then she will just bite for no reason at all.
She also does this crazy thing where shes sitting on my finger, something I just recently got her to do, and she'll be talking and suddenly she'll scream out and just attack her own foot! Scared the crap out of me the first few times she did it, I though for sure she was going to draw blood but went for her own foot instead. Whew! It was hard to stand there w/her on my finger and not flinch! lol
I've had lots of people tell me to re-home her because shes mean and won't let anybody but me near her. The way I figure it, she came to me as a re-home from a bird flipper and I have no idea how many homes she has been in. I'm not about to re-home her again and make it worse for her. She's so unstable that she would just be moved from home to home and I refuse to see that happen. I do love her with all my heart and have been working w/her for about 8 months now. Shes slowly coming around but I figure she will never be a cuddly sweet bird. She won't even let me scratch her. It sux too. Have you ever had a bird that you just want to be able to pick up and cuddle and scratch? That's how I feel w/Gypsy. I keep hoping that one day she'll let me scratch her. I just keep trying and I just keep remembering to be patient with her. Even w/her meanness she has stolen my heart. lol

well, I don't think she'll ever be a cuddly bird. Her and I have our own thing going on. Most people around don't understand it and don't understand why I keep her. But it would break my heart to know that she could ever go back to living that horrible life like before. I've learned when to leave her alone and when to step her up. We can communicate through body language. I've learned to read hers pretty well and pay close attention to it. She does have a thing about her water bowl though. No matter what, if I try to change her water she will try to bite me. She doesn't mind the food but for some reason she is very possessive about the water bowl. I'm figuring maybe in the past she didn't get clean water when she needed it or went without but don't know for sure. I figured by now she would realize the bowl is always getting clean water everyday and it always comes back but she just hasn't gotten that yet. I finally had to move her bowl to the outside of her cage so I can change the water quickly without her biting me but I had to towel her and put her up just to do that! lol She's special! I have to say that she is the only bird I have that I worry constantly about what would happen to her if something happened to me. Since nobody in my family can handle her at all.

Some birds protect their dishes like that even if nothing bad has ever happened to them. It is difficult to service the dishes when they are like that.

I'm glad she found you.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

hmmm shes is the only one of my birds that does that. lol Just a little territorial I guess.

Bob, yes she blends in very well with the toys at least as long as she sits still and doesn't cluck. lol
