A positive update!

We have had our adopted linnie girl for almost a month now and she is doing wonderfully She loves attention and loves to be with us. I wanted to post a new picture because she is coming out of her molt and her new feathers are looking beautiful! We have decided to name her Kissy because that's just the name that stuck she mimics kiss noises (at ALL hours of the day and night, we are getting used to randomly hearing kisses at 2:30am ) we are still getting used to her massive droppings (she holds them and then they come out like bombs!!) so that's probably our only complaint about her otherwise she seems to be fitting right in!

She's beautiful and Kissy sounds like the perfect name! Regarding the bombs, they are pretty impressive! I found Louie is pretty smart about it and he really tries to warn me when he's getting ready to let loose. He's almost potty trained. Just a couple of accidents every once in a while. there's hope!

Oh man! I hope she get it under control I usually will hold her over her newspapers in front of her cage for a while before I let her on my shoulder so she can drop her "surprise", thank goodness for baby wipes!

That's how I trained Louie. The only problem is he'll hold it while he's on me, but as soon as he gets on my husband, he let's loose! Every time! I swear you can almost hear Louie laughing!! I think he thinks its a hoot!

Beautiful name for a beautiful bird. So many congrats on bringing her home! And I am also so incredibly sorry for Muffin.

My conures hold it in at night.. I swear they hold it in just to release an atomic bomb the next morning when they're let out. I have measured one of Reptar's against a deck of cards. Scariest picture I have ever taken.

Don't you just love Kissy's big eyes? The eyes are what drew me to linnies. Yeah, their poops are big for a small bird. Miss Chanel's aim is also horrible--LOL.

So glad to hear about Kissy settling in.

Linnie poops are big and messy, but they are also the easiest bird poop to clean. Just spritz it with some hydrogen peroxide, wait less than a minute and it wipes clean off. I use a kitchen towel held with a clothespin as a shoulder protector, or a fleece hoodie as a clothes protector.

Linnies are such cute little parrots.

They understand where you absolutely hate their poops. Just say "EEEEEK" loudly!
There are people who don't want to buy them because of their droppings.

Yuki and Paulchen live in a big flight cage with their playing gym on the flat roof, so they poop into my part of the living room seldom.
For the cage floor I use hemp litter. It is super absorbant and mite repellent.
But I read that it is not easily available in the USA.

I forgot to mention...linnies are sweet. I love Miss Kauai, but definitely Miss Chanel is my little sweetheart. She really makes me feel like I'm her mommy

Yes! I feel like that with Chewy too Kissy loves to be on our hands. When we first start handling her she does this thing where she like vibrates her wings very subtly, is that a good thing? or does it mean she is nervous. She likes to talk to our fingers too hehe she is just adorable!
