Meet Tookie, the hybrid Red Collar/Rainbow Lorikeet.

Yesterday, my mum, myself and 2 of my brothers took a trip to Birdsville (http://www.birdsville.net.au/index.html) I will post photos in another thread, but my mum and my brother fell in love with an adorably sweet baby Lorikeet there and we ended up coming home with him/her. (donít know the sex) She or he is a hybrid, mainy Red Collared and a bit of Rainbow as well.

Tookie is the biggest cuddle bug, and so very tame, (s)he loves people, in fact (s)he loves people so much that it is hard to get him/her off of you, lol.

Beautiful! Lorikeets are so cute, they're so full of energy. Has s/he stuck his/her tongue up your nose yet? lol!! Every lorikeet we worked with would do that - they probe with that bristly little tongue and have a knack for getting in your mouth or nose

What a sweetie.

Jenny I usually cop the tongue down the ear. Boy does that tickle. As well as getting it in the mouth.

The tongue is amazing. I'm sure it's about 1 1/2 inches long. They unfurl it. Here is a pic of the tongue.

Haha, cool picture! I'd always known the tongue was bristled like that, but its a totally different experience when you get up close with a lorikeet and you can see and, even stranger, feel the bristles lol. It's really nifty
