Oliver & Gemma

I have some short 15 sec videos of Oliver and Gemma trying to get my sushi, eating my food, and Oliver giving me kisses. I also added one of Parker so you guys can see how well he is doing now after being diagnosed with adrenal gland disease and hospitalizedImageUploadedByPetGuide1424045740.240664.jpg. Hope everyone is doing well.

My dog, Bailey, loves Parker Whenever you've posted a video of him on here she comes and jumps in front of the laptop to have a look at him haha! How is he feeling now?

Oliver and Gemma are adorable! They're like a little team too

I can understand them. Your Sushi looks so nice, I'd also try to get it.
Gemma is a real lady, she eats from the fork.

Thank you for asking after Parker. He is doing really well considering everything he has been thru! He has had some side effects from the meds which resulted in me getting a new couch so kinda a win win lol. He goes to the dr once a month for his shot and blood work and he gets his two daily meds at home from me. He has gained a bit of weight from the meds so I have to watch that because of his bad knee. He sure has been a trooper let me tell you. Id be in a much worse mood if I had to go thru what he goes thru lol.

Yes Oliver and Gemma hit it off straight away and are very great friends. Oliver is a very confident funny guy with Gemma around. She has been very good for him and he has come out of his shell. We are loving seeing all of these funny sides of him we never saw before. I am very fortunate with them. They both love me very much too! It is like they were meant to be and I am glad they found each other.

Oh bless him. He IS a trooper! Is he comfortable with you giving him meds and everything? My dogs are wimps and can't even stand having their worming tablets. I forgot how old he is too, is he a young dog?

Gemma and Oliver are cuties! And so is Parker. I have a Chihuahua mix named Gizmo who's probably on his last legs. Parker seems to be getting along okay, though!

Thank you Mr. Peepers for the sig!

No he is great about it. I just mold a little cheese around the pill with my fingers and he eats it right up. The other med is liquid and taste sweet, so straight down. The shot-he has learned to anticipate it and so he gets scared and cries. It breaks my heart but he gets over it within a minute or two. Parker is six years old. He was a few weeks away from his sixth birthday when he was hospitalized.

I've started to use extra light cheese triangles on my guys cause they're almost too sticky so they can't spit anything out Awh he's not very old at all, poor thing. At least he has you guys to give him the care he needs!

I am learning to groom him myself now since he can't go to the groomer anymore due to stress. I have a new respect for groomers now! It is not easy!

He has one of the more adorable dog faces ever. Is he a trouble maker at all or is he really as innocent as he looks ?

Thank you! No he is as innocent as he looks! About 95% anyway lol. A very good, sweet, happy, good natured little boy. I love my other dog too but Parker is just so happy and easy. His personality reminds me of Cozette. They are just happy and have a special, innocent energy to them. Versus my other dog is very smart and serious natured and prone to a bit of anxiety, but still a very good boy.

Parker is absolutely adorable. Glad his condition is manageable.

I was wondering how Cozette is doing without Mina around. Is she still enjoying your dad's Budgies?

Thank you. Cozette is doing pretty good I think. She seems fine. Mina and her had an interesting relationship. She seemed to like that Mina was around (kind of like when my husband is home but I don't always have to be interacting with him -just that he is around is nice) but Cozette has always kind of been in her own world. Their relationship was nothing like Oliver and Gemma's where they snuggle, contact call, and do everything together. Mina used to push her around some but Cozette didn't seem to mind lol. Mina seemed to kind of ignore Cozette for the most part as she got older and she became completely fixated on me and was frantic about trying to follow me everywhere. I just talked to Susan about a week ago. She said Mina and Bijou are great friends and share a cage now. They even sleep together. (Her and Cozette never slept together.) But that Mina is the tamer bolder of the two and always the first out of the cage to hang out with Susan. Didn't surprise me at all lol.

With the budgies, Cozette seems to be a lot more interested in observing them and what they're doing than she was with Mina- but from afar. With Mina she'd just enjoy being around her but not interact much, with the budgies Cozette watches them a lot. She is also a little aloof/shy with them and sort of a social pariah. I am starting to think by her own doing. Hard to know with her what she likes or doesn't- what she wants or doesn't. I only know for sure that she loves me a lot! The decision I made was for Mina and I think it was the right one for her but I don't know whether it was the right decision for Cozette or not. When making the decision I didn't think about Cozette as much as I did Mina because of how Mina had been behaving toward Cozette. I feel bad for not considering Cozette's needs as much as I did Mina's. Sometimes that makes me sad. Other times I wonder if Cozette really cares, she seems to really just live in the moment.

What do you think based on your experience with both species? Thank you for inquiring about her.

Please don't feel bad. Mina was not a partner of her species, she won't miss her too much.
In your situation I would wait and see if the three budgies build a little flock. If they don't I would consider about getting another budgie for Cozette.
Otherwise she'll be your only bird without a partner.

It sounds like both birds are just fine, and you did the right thing (you shouldn't beat yoursilf up about it).

Our Snowball is very much like your Cozette (maybe because they are different being Albino?). Snowball loves to be with the other birds, both Chet(who could care less about her), and the boys. Not interacting, just being.
Chet thinks she's a Linnie and wants to be with the boys. I sometimes think Chet would have been happier without another Budgie when we lost Pickes...
