So far, Kyoto has drank water, eaten pellets (didn't even want anything to do with Seeds LOL) turned her nose up at fresh broccoli and mango, played with her toys, took a bath, preened, made the most adorable noises, and flew around her cage asking to be let out.

We've taken her out for 5 minutes every hour or two and fed her pellets from our hands. She has sat nicely and only took off around the room twice, both times pretty well controlled and landed on my head.

I'd say I'm in love.

She's got her first vet visit on Thursday at 10am. Fingers crossed she gets a clean bill of health!

Thanks everyone! I can't get over what a smart bird she is.

She tells me when she needs to poop, when she needs to go to her cage to drink (she's working on flying there herself, but she is sometimes too preoccupied with sitting on me to make the leap), and when she is ready for a nap or to go to bed.

She is also being so good about eating! She eats her Roudybush pellets even though she prefers the Zupreem fruit blend, and she picks at her nutriberries too. When I come home from work and give her fresh kale, she doesn't eat a lot but she does nibble on it if I encourage her and feed it to her while I sit with her.

I've had quite a few birds in my life, but I think she is definitely the most curious and adventurous. Teaching a baby bird how to play with toys has been an interesting experience for me with her, and I can't believe how much she likes to copy what I'm doing with them. She will play with a ball if I play with it first

I didn't get any new photos today, but hopefully we will get some tomorrow. She crawled into her snuggle tent after her 7:30 play session and seemed to want to go to bed, so I covered her cage up and let her sleep. I am so in love <3

I had been worried about her poop, so I got her into the vet today. She was an absolutely perfect patient! I had never towel trained her before, but she complied perfectly for the vet and calmly laid on her back while she was examined. No nips at all!

She got a clean bill of health and a lecture on the benefit of harrison's pellets (I'm not convinced yet haha) and we have been working really hard on target training and clicker training. She has been such a wonderful pet.

She said her first word today while cozy-ing up in her tent bed… she was making her normal chatter when suddenly I heard:

"Pooooopeeeee… POOPIEEEEE!"

Guess she likes that word because she gets poopy praise when she sits on her play stand to poop or goes poop in her cage XD.

Great to hear she is in good health.

Do you give her sprouts? They are extremely beneficial for birds (and us). I don't feed my birds (six budgies) pellets - just sprouts (every day), veggies (carrots, carrot tops, broccoli, lettuce, salad, parsley, endive, leek, spinach, basil etc.) and eggs (hard boiled, once to twice a week - they love them).

Regards

Unfortunately most vets will try and ram Harrison's down your throat You feed your bird what YOU want to feed them!
