Great pics of an abosulty beautiful bird.
Have you given him little balls to play with? Lories LOVE those little plastic cat balls. We had a pair of young ones at the pet shop and the first day we put one in the cage they went absolutely nuts over it, throwing it around, jumping on it, tug of war... lol!
Yup, I did, but it was a plastic cat ball with a bell inside and he was scared of it. I have to get him the ones without bells inside.
They are so funny to watch when they are on their back playing with toys.
He is SO cute! Is he as messy as most say lorikeets are
Poop wise, most definitely ó his poop can go pretty farÖ down the sides of the cage, on the wall, on the carpet. Food wise, not really, he is a clean eater, though I am still hand-feeding him a few times throughout the day, that is messy, but otherwise not with other foods like fruits and such.
His cage gets wiped over every night, and will be scrubbed really well every weekend (if weather is nice). It is all totally worth it though to have them.
PS: Lorikeets remind me a lot of Caiques.
Ooooh, he's gorgeous! Is feeding him difficult? I was reading about Lorys and Lorikeets and it did seem tricky, comparatively. They have such strange little tongues....
I think a lot of people find their diet preparation a hassle (which it isnít, it is pretty simple), this is the biggest difference with the Lorys/Lorikeets diet ó the dry mix they need to have always available in their cage, and the wet mix is given for 1-2 hours a day, they can also have nectar as well as fruits, flowers and pollen. They also need their water changed quite a bit because they like to deposit their food in there.
I donít find it hard, and you adjust to it anyway and it becomes a breeze.
