I have fallen in love!

So at my local Pet valu there is this GCC who is the cutest thing I have ever seen...like ever....hes the biggest character ever, Heres a post I made about him awhile ago,https://www.talkparrots.com/showthrea...7242#post27242. Anyway I go into the store every now and again for crickets and bird food and always go to see him( Ive nicknamed him Cheeky) but I never stay long, its just a "hey cutie whats up?" and I leave....and hes always bitten me when I put my finger up against the cage so I always assumed he wasnt tame in any way.

Anyway today I had more time with him as we took my dog in to get her nails trimmed so I decided to work at him a bitWell after some time and a couple chomps and lots of chatting between us two( and a warning from the store owner about how nippy he is) he put his head against the cage and this happened..... 126.MOV - YouTube
For a good long time I scratched him and the lady seemed so surprised as she said he doesnt let many people touch him....and I so love him, if only I had the money and the room he would be mine in a heartbeat! I want a GCC so bad lol Im so in love with everything about them! The store also had about 5 newly weaned baby GCC's but they wanted nothing to do with me lol and a little yellow budgie who avoided me like the plague, and 2 blue quakers( one said hello) but they were behind glass.

its funny because I never cared for birds. My mom had a mean lovie when I was little and then my gram had an evil tiel. So they totally turned me off birds. Then at easter my sister brought her baby irn and he was adorable and i fed him peas and fell in love. I still kind of avoided the thought till a few weeks ago when I fell head over eels with my parrotlet and brought her home. Then once I had her I had to get another, now we have Ricky. I dont know how I lived without birds. They make me laughand smile. Even my pirana with feathers (my p'let). Even my daughter is head over heels. Says the birds are the coolest pets ever.
I must ay your tiels are so cute. Cupid has the cutest little face!!!

I would love to have a gcc , I'm glad to hear that a irn is someones dream bird there are so many people who say they don't make good pets but thats not true the just need some one who is truly dedicated to training them and does not allow bad habits from the start. I love my IRN to bits and wouldn't exchange him for the world

Solo (jess) Im working my way up to irn lol. From parrotlet, to gcc hopefully IRN. Im so drawn to them, even after hearing the bad stories about them. I keep saying 10 years because we wont have our guniea pigs by then and I'll have 2 of my kids off to college. lol Any animal can be rough. From what I understand IRNs have a real rough patch up to like age 2 and after tht its not so bad. They are jut so smart and adorable.

I love IRNs cute little voices!! I really want 3 ( not just 1 but 3! One white, one blue and one grey... I'm crazy I know!).

As for the conure. That is sooooo cute! He really is super sweet. If you had them room you would so have him and you know it hehe!

Just to make you all jealous, I'm picking up my IRN at the weekend. He's green and I'd like to get a blue female to make little purple ones LoL! Yeah I know thats not how it works. Guys in the UK I'll let you know when cuddly babies are ready, but be warned IRN's go through a moody bitey teenage stage before going back to cuddling. :-D cute piccies to follow.

I also love IRN i go to this parrot rescue and there is one there who is so friendly, he flies on my shoulder and he pecks at my hand, and when you tell him off he laughs! My birds are all in hq flight cages.. they are inexpensive , good quality and large... 32x21x53 I would never keep birds in anything smaller again.

I just got cage for my IRN temporarily whilst the aviary being done. Its a Montana mini san remo i think. Its huge! Got it 2nd hand. Theres 1 in my local pet shop for sale. £115 more than I paid! Bargain! But its so big. Husband not impressed. But I'll be selling at some point so I may advertise on here. It is the biggest i can house and afford and would go in the car! I would always go as big as you can. Hoping to get Irn tame then keep him tame in aviary by going in every day for a play. I've read this is the way to go.

Sarah,
Don't you have space issues? A green cheek can live in whatever a tiel can live in, if that helps.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!
