Introducing StrongArm

Well, today the new cockatiel was finally delivered from out of town I've been waiting about 2 weeks for this girl and I am sooo happy that she has come home! I've named her Strongarm after the female Transformer from the Robots in Disguise cartoon.

Here are her pix. She's the queen of crouch-and-hiss and is clearly unimpressed with me. I'm hoping she'll warm up to me with time

She's adorable and its typical of them to hiss and lunge a bit at first when they are getting use to you, move slowly around her and try and bribe her closer with some treats.

Not to alarm you but that rope perch is dangerous as its got lots of loose stings and strands hanging on it so its in need of replacing. I've seen birds nails caught in the loose strings/strands that caused them to freek and fall causing them to struggle and get caught up worse. It's especially dangerous if you don't see them caught in it and you aren't home to rescue them as soon as possible.

Thanks for the heads up about the perch I usually trim them when they get ragged looking, but there comes a point where only so much trimming can happen and the perch has to be replaced

Yeah - Strongarm is pretty annoyed with me, LOL. I'm used to baby birds which are a lot more trusting (I'm sure you already know this, LOL), so Strong's hissing took me by surprise at first. I hope she likes spray millet as a special treat!
