Guess who I found??

I found Norbert~Thomas on a parrot site! I'm sure it's Judi's (JudiNH) adorable green show type budgie, as it says in the caption underneath the photo
I found this site a long time ago, almost half a year ago when I was looking for a good bird site that would lead me to my perfect bird If you look at the parakeet section, there's Judi's budgie!!

Here's the pic

i gotta love how that site reccomends caiques, lovebirds, quakers, and parrotlets for kids. theyre all known to be aggressive/territorial species lol not to mention, parrotlets, budgies, and lovebirds are so small, a kid would have to be very responsible to not harm the bird lol

did they have your permission to use the photo?

Yes. I entered it in their monthly photo contest, and they say that they then have the right to publish all entries on their site at a later date. Its okay with me.

Yeah, you're right though....some of those "recommendations" dont seem quite right to me, either!

You can still see the twinkle of happiness in your son's eyes
@Dally Tsuka ~ I know right?! Caiques are definitely NOT good birds for young children - they are just too much to handle

I raised quite a few caiques. If you socialize them well, they make GREAT pets for kids. They are so compact, durable, and hands on. I would not be worried about my kids getting over zealous and hurting a caique. We had one at the shop we would hold almost like a food ball and gently toss away on the floor - he'd flutter to the ground and come running back, bouncing and squealing for more! lol!

I think they missed one of the best child's birds, bourkes. I think this is because they are pretty rare as pets and underrated. Stanley is wonderful with Cannary, and I can also let any child I trust hold her. I do have to be careful supervising the children, because she is tiny.

I do agree that cockatiels and bantam chickens should be right up there at the top, though. My conure, quaker, pionus, and parrotlet are also great with kids.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

Stanley (bourkes), Roni (senegal), Elisa (lineolated parakeet) and Doug (pacific parrotlet), Daisy (maximilian pionus), Shira (green cheek conure), Ashlynn, (grey), Taylor (princess of wales parakeet), Joelle (quaker), Benny (cockatiel)

I read the article, I didn't like what this one person commented. I'd love to see them meet my lovely Marvin. Of course they have personality. All birds do
