Munch laid her first egg

with good timing, we were there to see it!!!

video of it, warning, graphic, some may not want to watch it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYAKC...ature=youtu.be

and photos of the egg (which unfortunately had to be boiled because we wont bring inbred babies into this world.). last photo is showing her egg bum minutes before she started to lay.

its just interesting because normally they lay really late at night or really early in the morning, so its rare to actually see it in person, let alone get it on video. so this was a learning experience, though i think she thought she had to poop... she looked pretty confused. hopefully the next egg she knows whats going on better.

Ive seen my cockatiels lay eggs, but Ive never seen a chick being hatched . Good idea boiling them, I hated it when the budgies were constantly laying eggs but luckily they havent since Ive moved(mine were having trouble with stopping laying eggs). it is really cool to se though!

That is very interesting! I have never witnessed a bird laying an egg so that's some education for me right there it's kinda gross but nothing that has shock factor hehe. Well done Munch for popping it out so fast and in front of the camera for us too!

we think she thought she had to poop and was a little confused as to why it wasnt coming out... tomorrow she should be laying number 2, so fingers crossed all goes as well as the first.

That makes sense, as this is new to her.
Crossing my fingers all goes well!
