His feathers are coming back a lot more, thank goodness for people like me who actually sit and play with him

What happened to his toys that he had (little and crap as they were), is Rosie still there?

Is he still on that standard seed diet?

Now he's in the aviary they wont give him any toys to play with (not kidding, I'm trying my hardest but I can't afford to buy a load my self and bring them to the college, but I have decided to stay here for my University course so I shall be hanging around with him for the next two/three years) and the food is rubbish even though they said they'd change it to the brilliant Rob Harvey stuff that I use. Rosie never comes out, ever. She stays inside the indoor bit all night on a rubbish little perch, in the dark. She just wont come out. She kicks Arnie out too so the poor thing has to be out in the cold. She is very miserable.

I am hoping to drill it into their heads, or at LEAST find a way of getting him a load of toys. The staff are terrible. They don't know anything about keeping parrots. I've asked so many times if I can take them home. They'd be better off with just a pair of aviary birds who can hang out. Arnold and Rosie hate each other. They bicker really badly and they're both being deprived. Not only is their diet appalling, their enrichment AND food is too. Poor Rosie never gets any sunlight, she just stays in the indoor bit (which is TINY may I add). We're doing a toy making project and everybody is making toys for the rodents and stuff but I refused to and I said I'm going to make three things for Rosie and Arnold. Shredding/foraging toys I can make my self, though they may not last long. I haven't even seen them play with the little toys they had before. Poor Arnie craves attention. He lets you tickle his head and everything. Rosie is very hands off. Poor Cadbury is in an aviary with four cockatiels and two bourkes! Not the place for a very tame quaker. I had to laugh though. Cadbury landed on a member of staff's shoulder and called her a fat b*****d they pick things up from the vile students

It falls on deaf ears unfortunatly.
I spend all my practical time there with the birds, they were all indoors when I was there. They stopped letting Rosie out, wouldn't let the doves out and one had a mangled foot.

They had a Budgie there called George who I kept asking to take him with me, he had some problems (I know he apparently died recently), I was the only person to handle him even the staff there wouldn't as he would bite everyone. He was such a sweet boy when he got used to you.

I frequently complained about their diets, they were only ever cleaned out when I did it and the toys they did have were never rotated.

Rosie the poor girl is actually wild caught. They deserve to be given to a sanctuary where they can live out their life with their own kind.

Whens the open day? I want to come round and see what they've done lol.

ROSIE WAS WILD CAUGHT!? That's terrible. The new animal unit is a lot better, if you're a rodent or reptile but the birds and outdoor animals are NEVER cleaned out. I do it all the time. Poor Lovey Dovey has a terrible foot but they wont do anything about it. The worst part is LD and the brown ring neck dove are kept in the food storage room away from all the other animals and people. LD also has a bigger cage than the brown one which makes no sense as he can't get around. I've asked them to swap the cages (Tuesday) I clean the birds there once a week (my practical) but I go visit Arnie every day. The college basically tarted up the new unit all nice and threw some cool exotics outside in the freezing. I can't believe that about Rosie, that is not fair on her one bit. She could live in an aviary at mine

You have JUST missed the open day

Arnold is such a sweetie!! He deserves to be in such a better home... Not in some place where no one but you care about him Have you tried contacting the SPCA or something? Can you buy him off the college?

Missing you always

yes she's wild caught, thats why she's so iffy with people, plus no one ever really bonds with them.

You could offer to buy them from the college, failing that I'd be tempted to report them but then again the rspca is shit!

Wonder if they'd be willing to donate them to birdworld? My brothers senior keeper there lol. Hmmmm might have a word with him.

Darn trust me to miss it!! I work weekends unfortunatly but I was going to book a day off lol.

That would be a good idea. Over the next two years of they're still there I am determined to get them better. I thought Rosie had been abused or something

Oh Poor things.
I'd love to take Arnold he looks such a sweetie!
I hate it when they're kept in bad conditions.
Do they not know how intelligent these birds are?
Amelia, I love birdworld but its such an expense to get in, any chance of a very cheeky discount?
I know I have a cheek but I've gotta ask,
I used to have a years pass but since we had the kids I just cant afford it! that and there's only so much looking at birds little kids will do!
I'd like to get a day there on my own. ~I used to spend an hour at the large parrot aviary playing with the too who comes over for a scritch but bites if you're not quick.
