new playgym

i made a new playgym today for the corner playgym and munch has claimed it for herself! of course, she was the only one to try it out first because she cant be let out with others lol

munch says its HER playgym... especially at the end!

i covered up the box later with a pillowcase... showing too much interest in the holes LOL

3 if you count the one below it. the room had to be rearranged and i had to limit some space a bit so i made two big ones. also i cant do too much new work because we are waiting on getting a new bed... we needed a new one and we've been sleeping on the pull out couch for the last 3 months lol but soon we are getting one, so i cant add anything else until we know where the new bed is going also, no point in having hanging playgyms on the ceiling when two of our birds are clipped and cannot reach those playgyms... so those came down. we have the one by the window, this new corner one, and the hanging one beneith it, which is just temporary. the hanging one will have to be moved after the bed comes in. the itty bitty one that used to be there i tore apart and used some of the branches to make this one and i used some of the old rope perches i had to make some perches on this new one.

if i had a bigger room in a more set home (we dont plan on staying here obviously) i'd have more things to do as munch would be in her own room while the other three share their own room... munch would be in the room we spend the most time in so that she can have her own place... but thats ideal. nothing ever happens that easily so we make do with what we have one day they will have better. for now, theyre happy and that is good with me. i can dream!

i use weeping willow, curly willow, and sycamore. those are the branches i use the most for any perches and playgyms one is an old dowel perch and some rope perches in there.

one branch is a debarked branch of silver maple. maple has to be debarked before using, but red maple is toxic. so if you arent too sure with maple species, dont risk using maple.

The only thing I really have at my disposal is pine but I have read diff things on it. Most say it's fine as long as it doesn't have sap and is cured. Would pine be ok if you oven cure it?

i am not sure on the pine... ive heard the sap is bad and you'd have to bake the heck out of it i think for a long time to fully dry it. i wouldnt know, i avoid using woods like that because its not worth the effort for me when i can get easier safer branches.

maybe debarking the pine and baking it? as most sap is in fresh wood under the bark, so if you debark an older drier branch and then bake it for awhile maybe it will work. just no cedar as it smells very strong and is considered a toxic wood

i have a lot of photos that dont turn out lol i take over 100 pics a day and choose my favourites and best ones before i post lol
