Question on Breed

I have someone on a different forum that told me that the bird i have is a green cheek conure and not a sun conure like we were told by the family we bought him from... So could someone that has some experience tell us what he is and he is only 4 months old....

He is most definitely NOT a Sun Conure... Sun Conures look like this http://www.avianweb.com/images/birds/sunconure5.jpg
He looks like a yellow sided green cheek conure to me!

Even at just 4 months old... those colors wont b different in 2 months after his molt? Sun Conures are that color even before a molt cuz he definitely doesnt look like that!

Nope, he'll keep his colors. Sun Conures have those colors all their lives.

He will look the same.
Sun Conures are also larger than Greek Cheek Conures and louder.

This is a photo of adult yellow sided green cheek conures http://www.avianweb.com/images/birds...dedConures.jpg

and adult Sun Conures http://www.centralpet.ca/Site/images.../sunconure.jpg

Your bird is gorgeous either way!
The person you got him from just might not have known the difference.

Lol, well you can tell them you know 100% that he isn't. Show them the photos of young Suns posted in this thread and I'm sure you'll convince them.

Definitely a yellow sided green cheek conure. Even sun conure babies don't look like that. What an odd thing to sell your bird as! Well at least you love him anyways haha! He sure is beautiful

I hope they didn't get charge for a sun even though it's a green cheek.

He is 100% green cheek conure... I agree that he looks like a yellow sided mutation... I hope you didn't pay a sun conure price for him ... Green cheeks are much cheaper than suns. He is a beautiful bird and green cheeks are great pets... I own a pineapple green cheek and he is a real sweetie.

I agree with what everyone here has said -- except you Mother and Sister! That is definitely 100% at Green Cheek, NOT a Sun Conure!

As others have said, I hope she didn't charge you the price for a Sun Conure! Green Cheeks are wonderful birds, much more quiet than a Sun Conure, and smaller than a Sun Conure.

Ask your Sister and Mother to read this thread!
