Melbourne zoo lorikeets

This happened a few weeks ago when I was visiting the zoo regularly for an assignment. In between working I went through the great flight avery and got to meet a few lorikeets.
There was no one else around so I wasn't sure if I was even allowed to touch the birds but they were the ones that 'attacked' me. One had also landed on my head but I was too slow with the camera. I've been a few times since and this has never happened again

And I'm kind of serious when I say they attacked me, I ended up with a bruise under my thumbnail

Anyway, thought I'd share this experience.

They are some lovely Red Collared Lorikeets Vickie. Believe it or not they were not actually attacking you. Their love pinches are just abit rough. They actually liked you and were telling you so. Cheekie devils.

Haha well I'm flattered they seemed very friendly, perhaps they could tell I liked them.

I was going to say you should try living with them, especially with the larger species! They're very nippy and rough birds. YouTube them and you'll see them play fighting

Great photos! Very cute
