Talking Parrot of the Month is BACK!

Hello and welcome back to Parrot of the Month!

What better time to start back up than October!? It's beautiful outside and there's all sorts of ideas you can come up with for awesome photo ideas

This month will actually be split up into TWO sections

The first section will be FALL/AUTUMN BIRDS where you can share a photo of your bird that makes you think of fall

The second section will be SPOOKY BIRDS and it will be a funny editing competition to see who can make their birds look the creepiest

This means that this month you will each get TWO entries

Photos must be submitted by the 20th of October and a voting thread will be made the same day. The winner will be announced on the 31st!

We do have a couple of simple guidelines that we would like you to follow, or you may lose your chance to be entered (THIS IS ONLY FOR THE FALL/AUTUMN BIRDS)

Submission guidelines

- The photo must be of your own (and preferably of your own bird but fitting photos will be accepted)
- The photo must not be edited except for cropping/rotating etc.
- When submitting your entry we would like it if you could put a name to your bird where possible
- You cannot replace your entry so you must be 100% sure that it is the photo want to submit

The winner will receive a cute little medal under their username as well as a Home Page feature of your photo

Ooooh, I see my entry is late to the party. This is a shame. We need more people to play in here. SIGH!

I'm not very creative when it comes to making my own things I don't mind running the contests but I can't make a voting thread with one entry

I'm a little confused -- here we are in the Winter Season, and we are to do birb arts with a fall, and a scary Halloween theme? Or is this just a re-posting example from before? I would like to get involved -- I use the GIMP, Microsoft Paint, and IfanView art programs to edit and create visual works.

This is a thread from October 2016. We used to do a monthly contest, which at one point became quite popular. If the forum picks up and members would be interested we could always start them up again but until then I don't think there's enough interest at the moment

I understand. It's kind of tricky to run a three-ring circus without any rings. BUT I will still post silly birb graphics, if the spirit hits me.

I have been enjoying this forum, for all of the information I have had been offered to receive, and the easy-going friendliness, since my joining in September. Thanks to you all, and Happy Holidays. *hugs*

Just finished working on a new parakeet siggie for St. Patrick's Day. It took a while in my digital art program, because my program got stuck, and I needed to save the half-finished graphic before closing the program, to restart it all again. But I figured it all out, and alls well that ended well.

My latest siggie portrait of Sweetheart is inspired by the fine stitchery work of needlepoint. This effect was accomplished with a digital filter, instead of needle and thread. In the original artpiece, I placed a bright yellow glow centered on her breast to represent her glowing heart -- but in the needlepoint version it looks like a little yellow spot against a field of feathered light blue. I could go back and edit the yellow spot away, but I really do not think this is too distracting. I wonder what Sweetheart would think about her portrait if I asked her. Contemplating a "bird's eye view" on a Thursday ~ The zen of Birbs is a wondrous thing.
