Update on Reva

I haven't posted in ages on here and loads has happened. Those of you on the other forums will already know about our progress but for those that don't.

He went very withdrawn for a while after Remy's passing as was to be expected. He was always the more nervous of the two anyway.

I've been spending lots of time just talking to him and feeding him through the bars, been taking him into a spare aviary during the day so he can see the other birds, he shares this with the Parrotlets (in separate cages) during the day when I'm there.

Last week for the first time ever he finally ventured out his cage, been tempting him to come out since he came out of quarantine and settled in but until last week he was adament he wasn't budging lol.

Well second day he came out the cage I tried to start perch training him, well he was petrified of it so I thought what the heck? Offered my arm out and asked him to step up, he was wary to begin with but came over and started playing with my jacket, then stepped right up!!! Did his little dance on my arm bless him lol.

Then the 4th time he came out, stepped up and was having some lovely apple and banana, he LOVES the stuff, after we finished with his food he was just sat on my arm playing with my sleeve, then he grabs my thumb in his beak and holds it. . . .

Then he starts licking my thumb, then my fingers, then my hand, extremely gentle with his beak.

So now he is waiting for me to take him and get him out everyday, he steps right up and happily sits nattering away to me or just preening me for ages. He is still scared of a lot of things, like the ties on my hoody, he isn't playing with his toys that much yet, still trying to find which he prefers.

No flying to me however we have started on him flying back to his cage, he isn't the best at it yet but having been stuck in a tiny cage all his life he needs to build his muscles up.

Up close and personal:

Look at that food face!!!

Aha yeah kira, Have a hilarious video of that little sod lol, he totally ignored his own fruit doing his best to get Revas, so he follows him around and as soon as he can he yanks Revas tail lol. Seriously has Rocky's personality in that teeny tiny body!
