African Grey Cage Size

What is the ideal cage size for a Congo African Grey? (Dimensions, bar spacing, etc.)

Are you looking at getting one?

There are 2 in Denver Craigslist for $400, and $500 both come with cages.

Abby are you thinking about getting a grey sooner or something haha? I'm liking where this is going!

I'd say something like: 33" width, 25" depth, 49" height. Those are from the inside of a cage not the whole thing. I dunno though I'd say that minimum really. Big bird big cage! Only fair As for bars I'd say 3/4"

Ask nanay, she'd be best

The minimum is 24" wide, but the 30" is best. I've seen some greys get nervous in too large a cage, but that I think has been older birds who've lived in a smaller cage getting put in a monster cage Greys are phobic and are even greater creatures of habit than other parrots, so they like things their way lol

Our Congo has a 36" by 36" by 24"...(those are the numbers, idk about the order).

Rule of thumb, the bird should be able to spread it's wings fully in the cage. And, the bigger is better rule doesn't always apply.

It's gotta be at LEAST the sizes I listed above. Even for a Timneh.

Sorry, Daisy, no Greys anytime soon.
Just doing some research, that's all. Trying to see how much everything costs. I'm going to start saving up some money now so I can buy one as soon as I get out of high school.

That's cool! But where will you get the money from!? They're really pricey in the US!

I would consider 24x36 to be absolute minimum for a Grey. When mine arrives it will be going into a 30x48

I'd just save up for the cage first and do a slow look of kijiji over time you will get a great condition cage for a pretty fair price if you just look longer enough.

I'm planning on getting my grey in 2 years so I'm saving 100 a month so I'll have 2400 I can buy the bird, the aviator harness, the cage and lots and lots of toys
