I brought home a Maximilian Pionus on Wednesday. OMG I LOVE the sounds this bird makes. It’s like little bird sounds coming out of a bigger bird. :O) I paid $225 for him/her. S/he was hatched June 24th but his/her previous owner can’t remember if it was 5 or 6 years ago. S/he has a band but I haven’t tried to look at it yet.
I’m calling him/her SweetyPi until I have him/her DAN’d. His/her feathers aren’t in good shape. No evidence of plucking or over grooming but what looks like just the opposite. His/her feathers aren’t “zipped” nice and smooth, and look kind of greasy. Any thoughts on what I might be able to do about it would be great. I’m thinking baths would help, at least I know they won’t hurt. :O)
I didn’t purchase his/her cage. It was big enough but it doesn’t break down so it wouldn’t fit in my car. His/her previous owner said s/he is very cage aggressive, so I thought a different cage would be great. I got this cage for him/her for just $125 off Craig’s List.

It didn’t help. S/he is still very cage aggressive. But I’ll start a more detailed thread under training and I’m hoping many of you will have great suggestions on how I can get past this. :O)
