Max

I went to the required "training class" today.

Part of the reason for the class is to find out how much you know. And because I am somewhat experienced there wasnít much to teach me today. Iím sure there will be Max specific things that I will need to learn.

I was the only one there so Christine and I just talked over a cup of coffee. Another reason for the class is to meet you. All their birds are in private foster homes, so they want to meet you before inviting you into someoneís home. And it gives them an idea if you even should be considered as a potential home based on your knowledge and/or willingness to learn.

Christine will be coming to my apartment for the home visit next Saturday morning then I will get to meet Max. They donít know much about Maxís past, not even sure he is a he. Donít know if he is hand fed or how tame he is. Christine has had him about six months and he will step up onto a towel wrapped hand/arm and will let her scratch his head. He will hang out on the couch with you or a play stand/top of his cage and be perfectly content.

After meeting him and visiting him a few times I would then foster him for three months. If at that point all has gone well I would be able to adopt him.

Daisy is as tame as can be. Nevertheless, her favorite things include just hanging out on the back of the couch or on a play stand. I think that is just a pionus thing. They are what I consider "low maintenance".

Glad your class went well.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

love all the getting to know you time. More places should do that because then there would be less rehomed birds

Daisy was called PiPi before we got her. "Max" and "PiPi". Maximilian owners must be the kind of people who like simple names.

Sounds like a fabulous rescue organization!!! Pi's are wonderful parrots. Everyone I know that has one absolutely loves them. They're very intelligent, easy going, and not as noisy as other species. Keep us posted on your journey and good luck.

I'm glad it's a Pi thing and I was thinking along the lines of "low Maintenance". This works perfect for me.

Thank you everyone. They don’t even know that “Max” is for sure a boy. A Maxi Pi is my dream bird and this rescue is a well run organization. After I move into a bigger place I want to foster birds for them.
