My new Pi!!!!

Some time ago I decided that I wanted to adopt an adult Pionus. I am going through the process to adopt a Maxi Pi from a local bird rescue and will continue to pursue him, but……

I also have been watching Craig’s List and eBay classifieds (kijiji) and, among others, I have found a Dusky Pionus. Her name is Kazoo, she is about 3 years old, and is a DNA’d female. Her owner and I have had an email conversation then a phone conversation. I’m going to pick her up tomorrow night after work. Unfortunately it’s at least a 3 hr drive so we won’t be home until around 2 in the morning, and I work on Saturday. Ugh!!!!

So excited for you! Dusky's are the cutest - in my humble opinion. I really hope that this works for you.

Thank you so much everyone!!

My daughter has tattoos, and body piercings, and I figure to each their own.

I'm still planning on adopting Max, the Maxi Pi, if the rescue will let me. At one point I was thinking about purchasing a male baby Pi from a breeder in Florida and the rescue said that they would still consider me as a home for Max, so I'm sure this won't be any different.

My son helps with the birds and loves to spend time with any that are willing, so I don't feel that I'm getting in over my head. Several of my birds are hands off, and some are just partially hands on. Only a few really want to interact with people.

I totally agree Kim! I got my little ankle butterfly tattoo when I was 45....must have been a hormone thing. My Daughter got one at the same time on her back. She got a winged horse. I would like to get a bird tattoo someday but I think Dear Hubby would disown me.

Back to the bird topic....I hope your new Pionus will adjust to your home in short order. Too bad you have to drive so far but I am guessing the driving time will 'fly' by fast with all the excitement of getting her. I wonder if the present owner has any bird tattoos? Oh...silly me...

I'm 46 and don't have any, but thought about getting one a few different times in my life, just never followed through.

I'm working right now (lunch time ) and Don't get off until around 7. Let me tell you..... this day is moving very slow!!!!

Congratulations! I hope you are able to post many, many photographs.

Life is funny, though. I always wanted a dusky and ended up with a maxi. You really preferred a maxi and ended up with a dusky.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

It is funny, but I do hope I can still get Max. We got home around 2:30 in the morning and I need to get ready for work soon. I'll post an update tonight around 9:30/10:00 and try to get photos within the next couple of days. I was think I would take a couple of pictures of her next to a Pepsi can for size comparison, if she will cooperate.

Her name is Kazoo but I'm not 100% sure that I'll keep it. But right now I have no clue what I would change it to.

Update on Kazoo

She is still nervous but is doing great. She won't step up for me from within the cage but she asked for scritches this morning.

She is in one of my big cages right now because I have not yet had the time to put her cage together. I let her choose if she wanted to stay in her small travel cage or go into the bigger one. It took a full day but she went into the big one.

I'm going to clean and put together her cage today and give her the choice to move into it or not. I think mine is just a little bigger.
