A Few pics of Harley, my Hahn's Macaw

Here's my boy -- He's feeling pretty good these days!

His beloved tube:

He can't decide which place to perch in this one:

Maybe this one?

Nope! This is the one!

He's so cute! He has a lot more pale green on the cheeks than the hahn's I raised at the pet shop; maybe it's a male/female difference?

Jenny - I don't really know, but that's interesting! My friend has a male (DNA'd) Hahn's about 3 years old, and he looks just like Harley. As far as I know, the males and females look alike, right?

Kate: Toys? Toys? What toys????

Daisy: Thanks! He still sniffles a little when he exerts himself, but it stops right away. I'm keeping a close eye on him!

Shivani -
He weighs 140 grams and is the largest of my 3 birds, so to me, he's not small! My Parrotlet weighs 24 grams and my GCC weighs 75 grams.

Jenny -
Gee, the picture you posted of a Hahn's is a lot more olive green, like you said! Harley is a real bright green, almost irridescent, and his "forehead", the area above his cere, is dark teal in color. I couldn't see any teal on the pic you posted. Do you think this is a male/female difference???

Melissa -
Thanks!

Shivani, Hahn's aren't that small! They put a green cheek to shame when it comes to size. I had never seen a green cheek in my life before I got Dexter and so I couldn't tell how big they were. I was expecting Hahn's macaw size but nope! Little less than a cockatiel

You're absolutely right, Daisy! I agree! I think GCC's are a perfect size bird! Not too big or small, and they can make use of small, medium or even semi-large toys!
