Update on KC

My severe macaw KC went to her new home last night. I met Steph at the Tsawassen ferry terminal, and we transferred her into her carrying case. I helped take down her cage, and fold it into Steph's car. Steph and I went to a nearby mall by my house to grab some lunch. We talked about our birds, and our families. She took me home, and I said goodbye to my baby girl there. KC knew something was up, and gently tongued my fingers through the grate on the cage. I cried like a baby. Steph will send me updates and lots of pictures, and also let me visit her whenever I want.

Later that night, my phone went off with an alert of a picture message, and there is KC, climbing all over her husband, taking his yogurt, and eating fruit from his hands. She looks so happy I cried all over again.

It seems like a perfect fit. I cry because I miss her, but also because I know shes so happy in her new home.

My job with KC is done. I found her a loving home that will take care of her every need. She can be with other parrots, in a completely parrot friendly house.

I love you baby bird. Don't forget me.

At least I feel better hearing how well shes doing with her new family. They send me pictures on my phone all the time showing how happy she now is with them. Sounds like they are doing really well with her. Apparently their grey Rex landed on KC's cage, and KC looked at him, and said "HI GUY!". Steph separated them incase Rex decided to bite. But it cheered me up.

What a wonderful, selfless act. You've changed the bird's life as well as a couple who now have something wonderful in their lives. What a generous, loving heart you have.

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.
And never regret anything that made you smile
