Exclamation doing some good

so i think i posted a long while ago about a macaw living in the back of a pet shop. at first i called the spca about it but they don't have time for it and never did anything so i complained to the manager about it and they cleaned the cage and put one sad looking toy in, but i was there today and boy does the poor baby look sad and bored. he is about 8 and has never had fresh food of any kind and has not been let out of his cage in a year.
so tomorrow me and my mom are going to go talk to the owner about maybe letting us take him off his hands either for free or a small fee and then if the fee is more then we can afford we will have a fund raiser of some kind.
if we get him we might not keep him, so he will not necessarily be an addition to my flock. at this point we just want to get him out and to a vet
will keep you updated

Good luck!! I hope you can get him... Kudos for trying to better his life!! Poor bird... What is the use of an animal abuse society if they cannot be bothered to check into animal abuse? Shame on them!!

That's so good of you, let's hope you can make a difference for that poor baby. I'm always trying to better the lives of birds around me but sadly 'you can't save them all' comes to mind

Good for you.
I hate seeing birds in poor conditions.
We go to a holiday park near us a lot.
This year they had a show warning about the dangers on exotic pets.
Saying their amazon bites every day. She is a rescue.
They have reptiles, a snapping turtle being the best.
And even a coati mundi, I am the only person to get that right all summer!
No one else knew what it was!
All rescues.
Education! That's all people need!
oops, rant over.
Hope you get him!

what a lovely thing to do, I think you should get the bird out of that situation, it must be very damaging to his mental and physical health. Neglect is abuse! Was it the RSPCA you phoned? Well let me tell you a sad story - my mum used to work as a vet nurse, and the RSPCA had a great dane that had "given birth to too many puppies". My mother offered to keep some, or at least take them home to find new homes for them, kind of like what you're doing with the macaw. Well the RSPCA just put the puppies to sleep anyway - the RSPCA is hypocritical! The RSPB only specializes in wild birds I think but I'm not sure. Anyways. Good for you on doing the right thing, and I hope to see pics of the macaw

the man who owns the bird does not want to listen to anything we say to him and refuses to sell but has improved the food and toys in the birds cage

That's too bad. Maybe you can come in and care for him yourself?

I don't understand why people refuse to sell something they are not really all that attached too... If he was attached to him he would give him a better life!
