Phoenix the Scarlet Macaw

Hey Everyone!

So I figured I should add an update about my baby Macaw. I got him at 3 months old and he's now 7 months old.

He's big, he's bad, he's awesome!! I love him so very much and even though he destroys things and is sometimes loud I couldn't stop loving him.

He's still really sweet? I love Macaws, I had a rescued Severe, my friend has her now. How is he for temperament? KC loved to try her boundaries all the time!

Thanks everyone! He is big and beautiful! I love him so much and couldn't imagine my life without him

His temperament is great! I trained him from day one to respect me and not to bite by tapping his beak when he did something wrong (a suggestion from the breeder) and it's worked wonders. He does try to test the boundaries now and then but quickly gives up.

everyone! His beak isn't that bad actually, it's all in the training. Right from day one he's been taught not to bite and to be gentle with his beak, ya I've been cut a couple of times but that was because something startled him and he lifted his head quick, I was just in the way

Awww, what a cute little love bug! Goober is really good about her beak as well, but she does have her moments! Just be prepared when your baby hits 1-3 years old and gets a touch hormonal, he'll probably start testing his limits more then, but it sounds like you've really built up a good base and won't have many problems. Goober has finally settled down and mellowed out, she was a bit of a terror with everyone but me while she was hormonal haha

Phoenix is a bit of a terror with everyone but me on a daily basis. Outside the home he's a sweet heart with everything but inside the home you better let me get him first! This is HIS territory, he just let's me live here
