my sister killed my linnie, my hearts crushed

my sister said shed feed four of my birds for two weeks while I was away, I came home,to my linnie Delilah dead, I'm completely and utterly crushed she meant the world to me. And I did this to her, a slow and, awful death, I wish lightening would strike me dead because I can't stand knowing I let someone do this to my baby. I feel completely crushed, the worst I've ever ffelt in my life, my poor baby, its all my fault

Oh no! I'm so sorry. Don't berate yourself, almost all of us at some point have done something we regret (and have sometimes resulted in the passing of our beloved pets) I know that it probably won't help the sense of loss, but please don't feel guilty.

Please don't feel guilty! A lot of people don't know that you HAVE to put fresh seed in a Bird's cage every day even if the dish still looks full. Most people won't notice that it's just seed hulls left in the dish and that there is actually no food left.

So sorry for your loss, I'm sure your sister feels horrible as well.

I am so sorry for your loss. It's probably hard for your sister too. It's really hard to lose a pet you love, and we have all done things we wish we would not have. Don't beat yourself up, but next time practice food prep with the caretaker and maybe have them do food changes by doing total dumps and full refills. So sorry this happened.

Jessie, just curious, you said she agreed to feed 4, who fed the rest? Was it miscommunication between feeders?

I am so sorry. Please don't blame yourself, you couldn't have known this would happen. Again, my heart breaks for you. I'm so very sorry.

And God said, "...let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." And God saw that it was good.

I took the rest with me to the country house I'm watching three dogs here, I brought my parrots with me and left the smaller birds because they are quite independent and I figured they would rather stay then get uprooted. My dad was supposed to watch them, he's who usually watches them but my sister asked me to move into her apartment and she would move in with my dad and I said yes but she'd have to watch my birds, I told her how and everything. She didn't even say sorry, she doesn't even care that she's dead. I just keep thinking if only I had taken her with me, I miss her so much, I'm just devastated and I feel so guilty that I caused this, I caused my baby to suffer

Dear Jessie,
it's awful what happened, I feel so sorry for you.
But it wasn't your fault that your sister didn't feed Delilah.
You probably couldn't take all the birds with you, and you trusted your family, that's normal.
I hope so much you can get over it.
Sad greetings

I'm so sorry for your loss But Jessie, please please don't blame yourself. You put your faith in somebody else who is responsible for it happening. At first I thought she must be feeling terrible, but having scrolled down to see she hadn't even said sorry... I would be furious! Chin up though, you still have an awesome little flock to look after you and help you heal

yeah they make me feel better, thanks Daisy. I dreamed about her last night. I just still feel so to blame, I wish I could tell her how sorry I was and how much I love her, wish I couldve saved her

I just keep imagining her sweet little face. She was my first and only linnie and I think they are one of my favourite birds now, she was such a special bird so sweet and gentle and loving. She reminded me a lot of my conures but in a,sweeter, gentler package. I really loved her so much

You describe Lonnie's perfectly. Perhaps when the time is right you might find another Linnie to provide you with that special Linnie love.

yes Idont think I could, stay away from their charm forever, breeders for linnies are very hard to find in this area and I don't thinknI could ever have a Lutino as it would remind me of her too much, but one day

Hi Sparrow! I love the verse you put on your siggy. Of all the creatures the Lord created, birds are my favorite. My question is: what kind of bird is that on your post? Is it a kind of lovebird? It is such a beautiful color!

So sorry to hear about your loss I'm sad that your sister isn't showing any remorse, even if she didn't do it intentionally (which I really hope she didn't). There is no reason to blame yourself even though I know it is hard not to have those feelings right now. Fly free little linnie
