Cleo

Cleo, my fifteen year old umbrella cockatoo, had to be euthanized due to heart failure. It was sudden, we rushed to the emergency vet two hours away on a Sunday and there wasn't really another option. I'm heartbroken. I will miss her cuddles and her singing and the joy her endless energy and cheefulness brought me. I will also miss the vision I had of us spending many, many more years together. My heart hurts but I know she is flying free. The vet sent us home with a clay heart with her foot print and name, some feathers, and her body which we buried. Love you forever my pretty girl Cleo...

I'm sorry for your loss of Cleo.

I love that your vet made the clay foot print heart for you, that is very special.

I had a budgie under an avians care last year and sadly she passed away, the avians secretary called me to say she had found some medicine from a new supplier that was a lot less expensive and easy for them to get for me.

I told her that it wasn't needed any more as the budgie had just passed, a little while later the vet himself called me to express how sad he was and he asked if there was anything he could do. I thought this was really nice of him, a few days later a nice card arrived in the mail expressing the clinic's sadness my budgie had passed.

I like that they were so thoughtful in calling me with the info about the meds and then expressing condolences a couple of ways.

Dear Abby,
I'm so sorry to hear about Cleo.
It's heartbreaking, she was so beautiful and adorable.
You had the vision of going a long way together with her.
In your heart she will be alive, you will never loose her as a friend.
Fly free, little Cleo.

Abby I am so sorry to hear about Cleo. As a fellow cockatoo owner I know how special they are. My beautiful Charlie is 15 this year also and I hand raised her from 2 weeks. I would be just devastated if anything happened to her. She is my little baby. My heart goes out to you.

Cleo

I am sorry for your sudden loss of Cleo. It hurts so much to lose them! I had more warning when I lost Meshach; she had cancer. After she died (at home) I made a clay imprint of her feet. It hangs on the curtain rod beside her old cage now occupied by "Bennie" my pearl-pied male cockatiel.

I love your clay imprint of her claw.

Oh Abby this made me cry. I'm so sorry. We had our Cockatoo for 28 years and they are so wonderful and so hard to lose.

We also got a footprint from our Vet, but yours is much clearer.

Take care. It gets a bit easier each day.
