Unhappy Fly High & Free Emmie.

I apologize for being missing in action recently. I have been absolutely heartbroken over the loss of my first bird, Emmie, Pacific Parrotlet. Emmie was flighted, which is a very personal choice we all make for our Fids, and unfortunately had a freak flight accident. Being so tiny, these little ones can sometimes find themselves in precarious positions, and this was very true with Emmie. I was with her, supervising, and still, unable to keep her safe. Logic tells me accidents happen, but of course, my heart hurts so much and feels guilt. I have never lost a bird before, and this really has hit me hard.

Fly free and high, Emmie. Mommy & Daddy Love and miss you.

~Kristen~ & Flock

I'm so sorry for your loss... accidents happen, and they're no one's fault... that's why they're called accidents. We've all been through it, or will be at some point in our lives. It's hard, and you will never really stop blaming yourself (I know from personal experience..), but we're here for you Kristen.

Emmie, you will be dearly missed.

Im so sorry Kristen. I know how much it hurts, and I understand the guilt. But, we give them their freedom so that they can be happy and live a full and rich is just the risk that naturally comes with that freedom. We could keep them confined in their cages so they would always be "safe", but what kind of life would that be? She lived a wonderful, happy, fulfilling life, she thrived....and she was deeply loved. Nothing there to feel guilty about. You did everything right. But I do know how very much it hurts, and my heart breaks for you. (((hugs)))
