i am sorry to hear this. its happened to me. thats how i lost my budgie, to one of my cats. daisy is right, you cant blame the cat, nor yourself. accidents happen, though you will live for a long time wishing you could go back in time to change it all. i know how you feel. but you cant blame anyone. accidents happen and it does not make you a bad person. he had a good life with you. he was loved and well cared for. its hard to live in a multispecies home. he was loved and cared for and we all know how happy he was and how well you cared for him and loved him. rest in peace Pumble

I'm soooo sorry. This must be so tough on you. That happens in nature too so it is natural for the cat. RIP

Let it all out - don't be afraid or ashamed to cry. And then I got a tattoo but I don't recommend that! So I would have a little funeral for him and make a memorial. I recently made a memorial for one of my birds that passed away, it took some shopping, a lot of planning and then a lot of work to get it exactly right but I found it was a great way to expend some of my energy and come to peace with my grief

Very pretty Jenny.

I lost a budgie not that long ago myself. I had a doctors appt, one of the rare occasions I even leave the house. Anyway when I got home i found that she had got her head stuck in a ring toy and hung herself. I balled my eyes out, she was my very favorite budgie (don't get me wrong I love them all) it's never been the same since, there was somthing very special about her that none of my other budgies posses. Your never really okay with it but you learn to accept it over time . Then a few days ago one of my guinea pigs died and right now I'm nursing a sick iguana. and my best friends cat is sick as well, he has cancer. If you want to cry, cry, it kinda helps.

The memorial idea is really cool Jenny! I wish I could tell you ways to deal with it, but I can't.

oh babygirl Im so sorry. Im sending you tons of hugs. I had tears in my eyes reading this, its bad enough to pet but to lose it in that manor is awful. My first reaction was to call the nearest store to you and get you a new fid. Time will help you feel better. You will always have him in your heart. You gave him a wonderful life and know that sometimes birds dont get that. Again Im so sorry and if your need a shoulder to cry on Im here for you.

time heals most things. take as long as you need to grieve, dont let anyone tell you to get over it. you wont. but you will eventually come to peace about it.

it will be a year in 2 months since toby has passed for us. i still feel depressed at times, but in ways, i am glad he was in our life, no matter how short. it all means something, things sometimes dont make sense at the time, things seem unfair. they are. but in time, it will hurt less and less and you will feel at peace with it. it helps to remember all the good times you had. it makes the process easier. we buried toby in a beautiful wooded park with a creek and bubbling water because he loved the sound of water running and would always chirp and sing when he heard it. i think maybe do something nice for pumble you can talk to any of us here, if that helps, we will help you through this

I think the pain just slowly fades out I'll be honest. When Axel died (my Indian eagle owl) I literally felll to the floor in pain and tears screamed. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't sleep. She was nearly two years old. It was a complete shock. I'd gone to school the next day and after about 30 seconds I just lost it. A teacher had to bring me home! I didn't go in for a week and a bit after that. I still look outside at her aviary and think she is there. I'm hoping that some time next year I will also get a tattoo for her. Jenny's memorial is really sweet and a really good idea. I still cry over Axel. People don't often understand though.

I know what you mean. Most people just think it's only an animal whats the big deal. The big deal is that we love them. When my dog had a heart attack and died a few years back, people kept saying well you had him for a long time (12 years) like it was okay that he died because I had him for a while , no big deal. My friend whose cat has cancer, one of her other friends told her she was sorry to hear that because she knew how fond she was of him. My friend was so ticked, she said I'm not fond of him, I love him. Needlesly to say she's not really talking to that person right now.
