Zeke & Misa.....

This seems so tragic and unfair. I feel absolutely terrible about it. I wish I could get hugs from you all!

So...unfortunately, Kiki killed both Zeke and Misa while I was at school.
In her flight cage, there are breeder doors on either side. I had recently moved the flight cage at an angle, away from being against the wall, so now she could get out of them. And she did, and she had climbed into the budgie cage (she managed to pull open those [terrible] gullotine style doors).

She has had quite a history of hurting them. Rocky's foot was badly injured by her biting it, and more recently, Kiki bit a chunk (yes, a chunk) out of Zeke's backside, almost removing all of his tail feathers completely. Both of these happened while she was outside of the 'keet's cage and they were inside.

I came home to find just an awful mess. It was so shocking and I was not at all ready to see that. The budgie cage has been moved and Kiki is not allowed anywhere near them.

I still can't believe this happened.

That is awful Abby I can't believe that happened I wouldn't be mad at Kiki though, it's just how birds are. It's not your fault either. The best thing is now that you're being home schooled you can keep an eye on them all day

Yeah I don't blame Kiki. I blame myself more than Kiki, but with the homeschool I hope to be able to keep a better eye on them all.

It's just the budgies luck. I lost one, not too long ago and that was horrible. But he's the only one I've lost

I know it's hard not to blame yourself, quite frankly I still blame myself for Leo's death. I keep thinking of all the things I could have done differently. Even though it was an accident and my head knows that, my heart still hurts and misses him and says if only you had...

and too with me, I love my Dog and I don't blame her for killing him, cause I don't think she really understood what she was doing, but there is a part of me that will always be upset with her.

I Still can't touch his cage even after all this time.

Hang in there Abby and try to remeber as much as you can that it was just a freak accident and if all else fells, denial can be your friend.

abby, it is not your fault, accidents happen even to the best of us. we are here for you, and sometimes things happen out of your control. its not kiki's fault, and it is not your fault. how were you supposed to know she'd escape and actually get in their cage? it is horrible, but not your fault or anyones fault, things happen. we are here for you i am very sorry for your loss
