we lost our DJ today

he has not been acting to normal for the last 3 days especially friday and saturday , he was very quiet and saturday he was just sitting near the bottom of his cage all fluffed up and I never seen him eat anything friday or saturday , this morning when I got up to let the birds out he passed away , I' was just getting ready to take him to the vet tomorrow so have him checked out but now I will call the vet tomorrow and take him up thier for a necropsy to see what he passed away from , I feel so bad and I pray it's nothing contagious , he was so sweet I will miss him so much

What a tragic loss He's gorgeous...

I took DJ to the vet today so they could do the necropsy , it felt so weird takeing him their all wraped up in a towel , I miss him terribly , the vet said he should know the results in 7 to 10 days he thinks it's liver disease for the fact I could never get DJ to eat pellets all he would eat is seeds and some veggies , will let everyone know when the test results come back

I would be shocked if it were liver disease, I have only ever seen cases in older birds if I am correct, he's still a baby right?

Bob doesn't eat pellets.
He has seeds fruit veg rice and pasta.
He has a sunlight lamp as well.
I wouldn't think it was that.
I suspect an underlying problem from when he was a baby.
So sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry you have lost such a young one.

R.I.P little one.
One thing I would like to say is I find this statement from a vet a bit off. "he thinks it's liver disease for the fact I could never get DJ to eat pellets".

I have heard this before! From my own AV vet. It is like they are trying to say that unless we feed pellets we are not looking after our birds. Which is a long way from the truth.
I agree with Catalinadee it is very unlikely liver disease in such a young bird.

Take some heart from the fact that it does sound like there was very little you could of done, other than what you already did.

A tribute to my lost ones. RIP.

Very unlikely. The youngest bird I know of with liver disease is my own, who had liver disease since before I got her and she is recovering. She was 6 years old.

I wish you had gotten to the vet sooner, let us know the results.

RIP DJ. I'm sorry for your loss.
